2021-2022 AROUND the NBA: GSW Champs [ARCHIVED]
(08-15-2021, 07:48 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Not sure, but to kick off the speculation, both Rondo and Beverley seem like the type who would be disgruntled by how they were shelved in the playoffs, and probably the type you don't want in your locker room while they're disgruntled.

Sounds  like the Clippers save 30 million on their lux tax bill.   And maybe they can rehab Bledsoe.   But the savings is probably the driver.

Grizz clear a few million for next year.   I read they already have a full roster so I doubt Beverly or Rondo are on the team probably.    Neither will probably want to be there.   It may be hard to combine a 2/3 for 1 trade at this stage, so maybe both are bought out.   Otero is a young big who may stick around....but I think I like a guy like Killian Tillie better.   We will see.

Salary dump for the Clippers. Opens up more roster spots. Beverly sealed his fate with that bush league foul on CP3 when they got eliminated.

From all indications, looks like Memphis isn't done making deals.

Good to have two more PG’s added to the trade market while we’re negotiating for ours

Woj "Memphis gets salary cap flexibility in the summer of 2022 with trade."

Money was indeed moved, and that was probably the LAC primary motivation. LAC's payroll/cap obligations this year went down by about $6M (which saves them sizable tax this year), and next year goes up by about $4M (when their payroll was set to be quite a bit lower).

The reverse was true for MEM, who took on an extra $6M this year, and will save about $4M next year. They have no tax issues. Perhaps they will be players in 2022 free agency. But the Grizz motivation maybe was more about on-court implications.

While all of those players have big question marks, Bledsoe fell way off last year and he looks like the "small guard over 30" bear may have caught him. So maybe MEM also is hoping either Pat Bev or Rondo might offer a bit better potential to help them win, literally two chances instead of one.

I think Memphis has 18 players under contract (plus 2 two way contracts) and they already have abundance of guards. I doubt Rondo and Beverly will be with them at the start of the season. Buyout most likely imho.

Zero chance, Memphis done the trade for 2022 cap flexibility.

Pat Bev wouldn't be a bad pickup in my mind. He's a punk that's annoying and dirty all around. BUT he's a career 38% 3pt shooter and can defend with the best of them.

I don't think the Grizz trade him though.

Rondo on the other hand might be bought out. I never thought I'd say this but desperate times call for desperate measures. Now that RC is out of the picture perhaps Rondo could work. He's a vet presence that knows how to win despite his attitude issues. If he wants the minimum *gulp* I'd rather have him than Burke...

Understandable.

Rondo is on the Mount Rushmore of Evil for the Mavs for what he did in the past. I don't like it and wouldn't even consider it if RC was still the head coach.

But there's a new regime in Dallas. JKidd has had a positive history with Rondo. AND if we're looking for another cheap creator Rondo does fit that bill. He can also defend and has somewhat formed a 3pt shot.

Again, I don't like it. Just trying to think outside the box.

Is there a team out there that will max out Kyrie at this point? That seems pretty ridiculous.
