Only way out of this mess is to move the 3pt line closer to make closeout defense easier and to put some respect on physically superior players when it comes to fouls. As long as the 3pt line spreads the floor and big players receive no protection from consistently getting hammered by smaller players this will not change.

I was impressed with Bogdanovich’s defense. Great game. Kawhi will come back. The teams look well matched.

Kawhi swinging to "pedestrian" isn't regression! His mean is way above pedestrian.

Yep. I would pick UTA against any other team....but they will lose the series to LAC IMO.

He was SOOOOO good against DAL (like top 5 all time playoff good!) that he needs pedestrian just to get him back to "top 5 NBA player" realm.

The key to Utah always has been that in the playoffs the team that beats Utah has found a way to make Rudy a non factor. If Clips small ball can do that they will win. However it is a positive sign for Utah that they found a way to win yesterday even with Rudy off for the most part until the end.
I am really rooting for Utah despite DWhistle. They have an identity defensively and have stuck to that as a core and not just focused solely on the 3 ball like the Mavs have.

Anyone else notice the homage Ben Simmons gave to the Mavericks last night? Disappeared like KP, and shot free throws like Luka.
The game was close until former Mav second round pick ( ) Shake Milton turned it around. Defense with Dwight Howard and Thybule really caused problems as they grew their lead too.
I think Philly is going to need better play from Simmons as this series goes on.
any interest in Dwight this offseason?

Good one Simmons is one of most overrated players imho. Sure he is a great defender, but he is a huge offensive liability, especially in the playoffs.

I will take that "overrated" player next to Luka, please!

I give you the defense but the Jazz are even worse 3-point chuckers than the Mavs. Lead the league in 3PA by a big margin. Ranked last in midrange attempts. 28th in attempts at the rim. Low assist numbers. 28th in ast% on 2s and 3s. 29th overall. Only Portland is worse. Mavs are 27th in both categories.
No ball movement. One screen. Semi open 3. Let it fly. Bigs crash the offensive glass (5th in total off rebounds, 3th in ORR). Bigs aren´t getting any touches.
In the game against the Clippers they attempted 50 3s. Only shot 34% from 3. Still won the game. At one point in the first quarter they did not score for 8 1/2 minutes. Missed 20 consecutive shots.

We must not have watched the same game. Simmons started the game on Trae Young who has been scorching hot in the playoffs and basically shut him down.

I think they make some moves. They are sort of stuck in the middle of being not good enough or not bad enough. I don't expect them to blow it up by moving Sabonis though. It feels like Myles Turner has been gettable for two years, but the league is not as high as him as some fan boards. I would also keep my eye on TJ Warren. Very good at the bubble, but didn't play this year. There were some reports he wanted out. Was that the coach or something bigger? He has one year left on his contract. Do they try to use him to get a younger piece who is under contract longer?
They have a tough evaulation. Right now their upside is a smart team whose upside is probably 5-6 in the East, but not bad enough to get a high pick. Difficult spot to get a lot of excitement with the fanbase.

Simmons reminds me a lot of Scottie Pippen. Incredible swiss-army knife defender, solid playmaker, undoubtedly a robin. Only thing is that Simmons can't score nearly as well as Scottie could, which just further cements his robin status.
Would love him on the Mavs though.

Apparently Warren had a history of their former head coach from PHX. And by history I mean that Warren disliked him a lot and wondered why IND would ever hire him.
There was an unconfirmed rumor that Warren gave IND an ultimatum, trade me or fire Bjorkgren because he disliked him that much. Warren then made IND's life a lot easier by opting to get voluntary foot surgery that sat him out the whole season so he didn't have to play under that coach.
Sheesh.

Thinking of Pippen makes me slightly sad for the Jail Blazers

Sheesh.
This may have happened but I think it's fair to point out that Warren adamantly denied that.
Feels like Brogdon is the most available if their plan is to put the ball in Levert's hands. Once Warren is back that's another guy who needs the ball to produce too. Turner seems like the second most available simply because his name comes up every trade deadline/offseason.
