- "Brunson might be the Mavs second best player."
I don't think you'd have much argument against this. THJ has his nights but give me JB's consistency over THJ streakiness. JB is the lone bright spot on this team.

7 games in a row for BrunBrun with +10 points off the bench now. He is 1 game away from tying a few others since the JET left town.

Also, this defensive play on DAJ and assist to Luka was $$$.

One of the objectives of Mav’s trades/team building should be to make moves that facilitate Brunson moving into the starting lineup. Given that he’s basically made himself into a heady 50-40-90 player with good handles, he needs to start.

Still prefer him in a bench role but obviously playing starter minutes (at least 25-30). With KP on the floor the Mavs already have on player that can be targeted on defense. Brunson is a solid defender but he is undersized and smart teams are taking advantage. Don´t like the amount of mismatches the Mavs give up when both are on the floor.
Good example would be yesterdays game. Mavs gave up multiple open 3s within 2-3 minutes. All on the same play call. Offball screen or hand off for Harris/Shamet. Brunson cannot get over the screen. Resulting in an open 3 for the Nets.

Anyone have the miked up segments with Jalen that ABC showed last night? I think he shows that he doesn't back down to Luka. They are pretty tight and I think you need to be mentally strong to excel next to Luka. I enjoyed listening to Jalen Miked up.

I don't have a link to that, but I just rewatched the game this afternoon and I agree - he really seems like a leader out there. Good sign.

Interesting. My comparison with Jalen was VanVleet when Jalen was a rookie. Although VanVleet made two huge jumps with one being during their championship run. I thought Jalen would be able to make one jump, but didn't think he had that second big jump in him. He has clearly made one big jump. I am not sure if he gets right at VanVleet level, but I think they do a lot of similar things. They play a little different, but toughness is one thing they both bring.
I am glad the fallacy that he couldn't play with Luka is proving to be wrong.

Brunson with another +10 point 4th quarter, and also averaging an efficient 17 ppg in the last 8 games. . .

Want to see Playoff Jalen before giving him big paycheck.
No doubt he is a playmaker, though.

Brunson is a lot closer to FVV in value than where the average Mav Fan ranks him (which is WAY below his value). FVV is worth 4/$85 contradct, and he's never even come close to sniffing an All Star game or 3rd Team All NBA nomination. You don't have to be a star to be an extremely valuable player.

There's 250 trade proposals on Mavs boards every day with fans tying themselves into knots wondering how they can get ahold of "core players on bad teams". Here we have one in house that doesn't cost us anything to attain, and he just so happens to be 24 years old, noticeably improving from year to year and (right now) ridiculously cheap. He should be valued and appreciated accordingly.
