You don't think GS wouldn't have rather had him than Porzingis? I don't see ANY indication that MIL is wanting to move Turner. I think they (rightfully) think he's a good fit with Giannis, and that they (probably wrongfully) can add enough before Giannis publicly states his desire to be traded (taking them off the hook with their fans) to convince him to stay, making the fit between he and Turner matter.
I just don’t know if Giannis is ever going to make a trade demand. He may become indifferent to playing for Milwaukee and they decide to trade him, but I don’t see why he’d want to tarnish his Milwaukee hero status by requesting a trade. He is basically to Milwaukee what Dirk was to us.

I waffle on how high I am on Mathurin, but after the AD trade Gafford for Mathurin just makes sense.

I feel the same way. I'd do that trade so we can see how he looks with Cooper before the summer.

I agree. I'd be all for that swap.

I probably would not trade Gafford for Mathurin. Mathurin would only be a 2 month test drive for me. While I don't love Gafford, you're left without a center if you trade him and then decide Mathurin is not a great fit.

I'd rather have him than Gafford.
Not sure I love him at $26.5 million next year VS Gafford at $18 million.

ATL: Gafford
DET: Naji, SRP (ATL)
DAL: Kuminga, Saric, FRP (DET)
The financials are interesting in that this adds $3.6M to DET payroll. It adds $5.8M to DAL. It keeps DET ~$2M under the tax. It keeps the Mavs ~$1.6M under.
All of this depends on how much you like Kuminga. I'm not a believer, but maybe the Mavs are. He fits the 'young guy and a pick' for the combo of Gafford+Naji.
The $$ fits, but I don't like the return for Gaff and Naji. Giving up both, but only getting one single 1st that's likely in the late 20s (another pick not much better than a 2nd).
I again think the Mavs priority needs to be scouting and evaluation. Their assets to work with will be lows 1sts, and 2nds. They need to have the skills to figure out who the hidden gems will be (rather than more Omax, Green, Hardy junk). Now that the Buss family is out of Lakers, I wonder if the son who was handling their 2nd round might be interested to show his skills for another team?

Boston has a very narrow path to ducking the tax, setting them up to reset the repeater clock.
They'd have to dump three more of the following four players: Tillman (easy), then Minott, Garza and Scheierman (harder).
Then they could sign four prorated minimum replacements.

Thinking about Boston being REALLY motivated to duck under the tax to reset their repeater issue.
What about Derrick White for Gafford+Naji+one of the 1sts they just got?
Mavs take on about 4.7 mil in additional salary and stay under the tax line. BOS gets their center and a very valuable wing and trade asset for next year and reset their tax.

Flipping Vucevic and a 1st for Gafford would also do it.

Yeah true, but why trade for Vucevic in the first place and then add on additional assets?
Breaking White into 2 really good role players AND get a late 1st out of it is selling as high as they realistically can. On top of ducking out of the tax.

White would probably help you win some games this year.

Derrick White is really good at basketball. I don't see him being traded unless it's a much bigger trade to tempt Boston. Certainly not for Gafford and a fake 1st rd pick.

Is White injured this year?
If not, why would the Celtics have any interest whatsoever in losing him, and why would we want him here to cause us to fail to lose games we must lose?

No way they trade White. I'd love to have him though.

I was thinking if we should take a flyer on Morant. But then I saw he has 2 years, $89 million remaining on his deal. OOOF

The Denver Nuggets are trading Hunter Tyson and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for the lesser favorable of a Clippers/Hawks 2026 second, sources tell ESPN. Denver creates an open roster spot for the buyout market and gets out of the luxury tax.

Nets will be cutting half of the team to get all these trades done
In all seriousness, it will take at least one and then they can go one by one. For example do the Denver trade and immediately cut the guy, than move on to the next one.
