Yes, it is one of the reasons why I am less high on the point guard only prospects.  Especially if they are 6'3 and below.  Whether Kyrie is here a year or three years, i will be tough to play large minutes with another small guard with him.   I think there is room for a smaller guard, but ideally you would want a guy a little bigger who brings some of the same things to the table.

Even with Tatum and Brown, Boston still had Jrue Holiday at PG when they won it all.  Mavs may not need a long term PG to be Robin, but they do need that PG to be a high level starter.  I think the focus on getting Flagg a robin at PG is because it would be the most efficient way to build a contender given the limited assets we are dealing with.

I wouldn't even say Jrue was the point guard of that team.   He is also around 6'4ish.  That boston team had 4 starters who all could handle the ball and shoot.   Jrue may have been 4th in ball handling responsibilities.   I get your point but I wouldn't call Jrue to point guard of the team.

With the Mavs lack of assets I don't think the Boston model with 4 high level creators is the right model to target.  They are more likely going to be Flagg/Robin/role players.  They need a PG at the level of one of those Boston guys and they need a Robin.  Their best chance is to combine the two.  Something like Murray with Jokic.  I agree that the more size that player has the better, but they need to be able to run the offense.
