Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST

Tim Connelly is the guy running the show in MINN, and yes he is elite. He was the one who built the DEN team that won the title and that we see at the top tier today (he was responsible for Jokic, Murray, Porter, and Gordon). He was hired away by MINN before DEN won the title, summer 2022. His 1st major move was adding Gobert.

Boston is now just a bit over 5 mil in the tax. But, to get under they would need to trade Hauser or Pritchard (with minimum salary going back to them). Assuming Tatum, Brown and White are not available.

Vucevic is an expiring contract. I have a tough time believing he's Bostons C going foward/next season.

It's interesting to see all the moves starting to break. These have been in the works for some time, but for the most part they seem to have come out of nowhere. All those big media rumors? They've missed most of this stuff entirely. Wonder what else is looming, because some of those sure look like a precursor to something else that's also being done.

I have kinda lost track of who needs what at this point, and who might be VERY active. It's a blur. (And I don't trust that any media has an answer, since they didn't see any of the today's moves ahead of time.)

[Charania] BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are trading center Nikola Vucevic and a second-round pick to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons and a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

I feel validated.

[Scotto] The Celtics previously proposed Anfernee Simons, a first-round pick, and a future first-round pick swap for Clippers center Ivica Zubac and salary filler, which the Clippers declined, sources said. Boston also inquired on Jaren Jackson Jr. Instead, Boston lands Nikola Vucevic.

Vooch isn't what he was but I think he would fit well on a good, smart team.  Maybe not 30 plus minutes but a nice veteran getting a little older.    Not nearly the upside of someone like KP at his peak, but probably more reliable.

Vuc does seem like he fits the model for a BOS center. Rebound. Hit 3s. Know where to be, how to fit in. Don't clog the payroll (which I expect they find a way to re-sign him in the 10-15M range in the summer).

Unlike Horford in his Boston days, he is a very weak defender, though. I don't see him as their starting center moving forward (if they resign him at all)

Good to see the Mavs six centers are in high demand. Sad

I think I saw something with espn shellburne saying Chris Paul can be a fit in Dallas. Not sure if it was false or old but that doesn’t make sense. I guess only if this was a DLO trade. DLO makes more money though. I would also not be willing to move a pick to do this. Just weird to see Dallas mentioned, if true

The number of times teams are doubling our "PG's"  (Bwill and Coopa, who both have issues with high-level ball handling) does suggest the Mav's need a real PG if KY is not going to play....regardless of hopes for tanks.

Maybe if they felt like they were one piece away this season then that might make sense, but obviously that's not the case and I doubt CP3 has any interest in coming here right now anyways.

Porzignis was supposed to make his return tonight but just announced as out with illness.

MEM now has ~$34M of space below the tax and a ~$29M TPE. Idk what they’ll do with Ja but it seems like they’re the perfect team to take on the Poeltl contract ($19.5M) in a potential Sabonis/AD trade.

TOR: Sabonis
SAC: Barrett
MEM: Poeltl

Toronto is $967k over the Tax line, but the big deal there is them missing out on the ~$14M distribution check from the league as a non-taxpayer. Barrett+Poeltl for Sabonis is a net -$4.8M for Toronto. Landing them their Big and getting them under the tax. How many picks it takes, I don’t know, but it makes a lot of sense for all involved. I can see TOR sending up to the maximum amount of cash in the deal to MEM also.

I've always liked Dosunmu. Good 2- way player that can score.  He'll get interest for sure.

Stein reported that the Mavs were hoping BOS could be a landing spot for Gafford. They acquired Vucevic though.

Gafford is not on the injury list for tonight. Marshall will also play.

The writing is on the wall Imo. Clueless owner, Co-GMs who fear for their jobs. At this point Id be surprised to see them make any type of substantial move. Maybe theyll dump DLo at the cost of a pick in order to save some luxury tax.

My prediction:

- They LOVE this roster
- AD will be back
- Naji will be back
- Gafford will be back
- ZERO additional draft capital coming in via trade
- they will actually move a future 1s/2nd in order to gain financial flexibility

Cuban is probably having a ton of influence behind the scenes right now and is working the phones playing amateur GM again.

Let’s just get it over with already. KP/Kennard/Risacher for AD/DLO makes too much sense. Mavs waive Exum and agree to a buyout for Kennard, to add Nembhard to the 15-man. Done.

I don't think Risacher (meh) and taking the smallest bad salary is nearly enough to pry away AD.

Add a couple picks (at least one with some real potential to matter). Add a real talent. Add more bad Mav salary. That might get it closer.

As is, that isn't much more than "if you just take AD off our hands, you can have him" territory.

I imagine the Mavs would jump at that if it was still on the table.
