D'Lo plus the Lakers 2029 for Ryan Rollins. I would seriously consider that one. Rollins is now averaging over 30 mpg, and is statistically good in almost everything the Mavs need. And as long as Doncic is a Laker, I don't see that draft pick as a big thing.

Dillon Brooks says Luka Doncic is the hardest player for him to guard.

I have as much interest in Ryan Rollins as I have in Ryan Hollins. Why should the Bucks trade him unless the other team does something stupid like give them a 1st round pick for him.

I think this upcoming draft is so strong and deep that there is an argument for taking a couple of shots. I also wonder in deals involving young NBA players why the seller wants to do it. They seller generally knows more about that player than the buyer. If they are trying to get out of the repeater tax, trading for players instead of space/assets makes that more difficult as well.

A couple years ago when we acquired PJ Washington and Gafford, I really liked the idea of using 1st rd picks to make several small moves to round out the roster, instead of waiting for a big swing. Luka and that team was ready to compete.
I think right now we need to be hoarding our assets in case the opportunity arises to take a big swing. My priority is to find a long term running mate for Cooper Flagg. I'm not trading 1sts for role players like Ryan Rollins. If we win the lottery again, then we can start dumping assets on complementary pieces.

Rollins is playing starter minutes now (31 mpg), shooting 39.8% from the three-pt line, 5.4 assists pg, and is dropping 16 PPG. Plus he's young (23) but with a few years of NBA experience. You're probably not getting that guy with the Lakers pick.

If the bar for making trades was the likelihood of the picked player being better, no established players would ever get traded for a pick. That's not how it works. I've seen people using this "logic" a lot recently. If you are veteran team ready to win now, you trade future picks for role players. If you are a rebuilding team with only one dude, you dont trade future picks for role players.

Which role players are averaging 31 mpg with those shooting stats? I think you're pretty lucky to get that player out of any draft.
A PG who is both young and has a few seasons under his belt. Or the bottom half of the 2029 draft. I'll take the player.

Meh
You could be right. I am certainly not that up to date on Ryan Rollins. Either way, I'm not trading any future assets for someone I don't consider can be a #2 to Cooper Flagg.

I'm not sure why the Bucks would want to trade him away for a (probably) crappy first?

Probably any semi-decent 24 year old guard that gets 31 MPG on crap team can put up 16/4/5. His teammate KPJ is doing it right now at 16/5/7.

East is really weak when Towns and Norman Powell make an all-star team...
