@Fullcourtpass
The Clippers rejected a trade offer of a first-round pick and pick swap for Ivica Zubac, per @TomerAzarly

They are believed to be seeking MULTIPLE first-round picks for him

The Clippers are a team to monitor for players like Kyle Kuzma, Collin Sexton, Anfernee Simons, and Coby White, per @TomerAzarly

“Talk around the league surrounding Kuzma had focused on his past desire to return to Los Angeles, and the Clippers were a team mentioned as a suitor for the former NBA champion when he was still with the Washington Wizards in 2024. Other players that have been linked to the Clippers over the last several days are Collin Sexton, Anfernee Simons, and Coby White.”

It doesn't matter.  If he doesn't want to pay tax, he is not going to pay tax. It was crazy impressive that Mavs fans had an impact on the firing of Nico, but it doesn't work that way with owners.  We have seen terrible owners run teams for decades across all sports (including in this city) without the fans having any real say.

Mavs fans clearly tell us that it's not true.

Dumont can't do stupid moves and he knows it very well otherwise he already traded street clothes for expires.

What happened with Harrison will be normal in the future, the pressure on owners from the social network is insane and Adelsons need to be viewed good in Dallas area for their business.

His lack of due diligence caused the Mavs to lose a ton of team equity. PD should have to pay whatever "Luka Tax" is necessary to balance out the piss poor trade return. Now, assuming the trade difference to get out of the LT and repeater penalties is negligible, then cool.  But right now Dumont is still in the hole with the team and fan base.

Pretty much.  Salary relief being a boon in this trade is hard to get excited about.  If repeater tax is needed to run this groundball out and get the best deal available, so be it.

It's been discussed 'round here about getting the Mavs under the luxury tax while involved with various teams. Here's a deadline 5 teamer:

Mavs get Jimmy Butler's dirty dead body, Nic Claxton, Risacher, Kennard, Mathurin Quinton Post,, GS' 2026 unprotected 1st GS' 2028 unprotected1st, , the better swap of GS' 2029 1st following all other Dallas swaps and, the NOPElicans 2026 1st from Atlanta

Warriors get Porzingis, Klay, Naji, Christie, Danny Wolf and two future 2nds (one each from Brooklyn and Indiana)

Hawks get AD, DeLo, Cam Thomas, Trace Jackson-Davis and Exum

Nets get Kuminga, Caleb Martin and Hardy, and the Mavs' 2028 1st following the OKC swap

Pacers get Gafford

By taking on Butler and trading away AD and very good rotation pieces on undervalued contracts, the Mavs load up on draft assets.

GS does give up future assets, but considering they are giving up physically (Butler) and mentally (Kuminga)
"damaged goods", the picks are worth it to build a complete unit around Steph for his last 2-3 seasons. It's very possible that only one of the 1sts land higher than the 20s and that would be a swap.

The Hawks get AD and backcourt help for a run in the East.

The Pacers get the center

In the end, this tears down much of the Mavs' current tradeable assets and.It fully steers the team into a tank and positions it with three 1sts. With 3 1sts and Cooper, next year will be marketed as "Team: Barely Legal".

Kyrie, Nembhard
Peterson, Mathurin
Flagg
Boozer, PJ
Claxton, Lively

Quote:Rich Paul, who represents Anthony Davis, has made it clear he wants his client to be traded. He believes that's in his best interest. I don't get the sense that A.D. is pounding on the door of the front office and saying 'get me out of here.' The Mavericks are exploring the market. They're being aggressive. They're having those conversations but they're not acting with a sense of urgency. They don't feel like they have to trade A.D. by the deadline. They don't feel like they have to trade him this summer. If Anthony Davis is on the Mavericks' roster to open camp next season, I don't think anybody in Dallas sees that as a major problem

Frankly I could care less what Rich Paul wants.  Find an offer we find acceptable, then we will talk.  Otherwise we will call you if we find anything.

What if there were never any offers? I don´t find it hard to believe that absolutely nobody wants to give AD an extension right now and that is the ultimate deal breaker.

If my GM proposed a trade to me that included a 100/2 extension for AD, I`d ask him one question:

Do we have contracts worth $60M right now that are so bad, that I actually want to do this AD extension trade?

If his answer is yes, I make the trade and fire him.

If his answer is no, I don´t make the trade and fire him.

Either way he´s getting fired before he leaves the room.

TSN describes the Raptors’ reported interest in Anthony Davis as mostly “wish casting” from Rich Paul, who is working “tirelessly” to get AD traded.

The Raptors have also checked in on Daniel Gafford, another Klutch Sports client.

Per @JakeLFischer
- In recent days, Atlanta, previously described as one of Anthony Davis’ most ardent suitors, have signaled they are no longer involved in significant trade talks with the Mavericks.

Sources have confirmed that the New York Knicks maintain genuine and ongoing interest in acquiring Dallas Mavericks Naji Marshall. While no deal appears imminent at this stage, the Knicks view him as a legitimate target ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.

The Pistons are open to trading Jaden Ivey if a big deal presents itself, per @BrettSiegelNBA

Hmmm...that's interesting.

Would be tough to get value from NY, unless they're willing to absorb some bad deals along with Marshall in exchange for Bridges, maybe? I don't see why they'd do that, but all of their expiring contracts are TINY, so it's tough to envision a deal worth doing without a zillion players switching teams, given the Mavs goals of creating spots for CIsse and Nembhard.

Questions

San Antonio probably wouldn’t do this but would trade Klay for an expiring and lifting the pick swap in the future?

If you trade Gafford to atl for an expiring, would you prefer the Cavs pick or another pick in the future? I believe the hawks have some picks tied up in the future.

Also if Dallas trades for an expiring, can they buyout that player and use the spot for one of their two ways?

I think I saw the person who tweeted that is not a real basketball guy.  So it is probably false.

Yes. Olynyk is the obvious expiring.

I prefer the ‘27 FRP, but would do the CLE pick also.

Yes

I wonder if BWill is being dhopped.
Seems his production as nd small salary make him a good candidate for a 2 or 3 for 1 deal clearing up roster spaces for Cisse and Nembhard.

Wonder what a Naji/Powell/BWill package would yield.

Seems we could yield an expiring and pick from that pack age.

I don't think shopped is the right term.  More like willing to use him as trade fodder.

Feels like IF and AD deal gets done, it will be right down to the deadline. But I'm skeptical one even  gets done.

I feel like AD won't be traded at this point, but I'm hopeful he is as long as it's for a good return.

Throw him in with Gafford for Mathurin.  2 for 1 helps Dallas and leaves IND just under the tax.

BTW, Jake Fisher is reporting an incomplete framework for a deal between IND and NOP of Yves Messi for Mathurin.  It doesn’t work without additional outgoing from NOP.
