Boozer floor is much higher than Bagley. You are getting a solid starter at worst.
Julius Randle is closer comparison if you don't believe in him. Bagley was totally different prospect at both skillset and potential.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pla...zer-3.html I guess you could argue that Boozer’s higher free throw percentage shows a higher three-point potential than Bagley.

For the Mavs, I think I would have AJ and Peterson over Boozer. I would have no problem picking Boozer though. He is 18 and will not turn 19 until July (So about 6 months younger than Cooper). He will need to learn trying to score against bigger players. He will probably get blocked a lot. His footwork is so good and he is huge. He has a gigantic base and will only get stronger in time. He is going to bully players. I sort of view him as Karl Malone 2.0. He will probably be a 25 and 12 player who makes winning plays. I don't think he is a #1 type player on a good team, but not far off.
BTW I really liked Marvin Bagley too (oops), but I don't see the comparison. Bagley dominated with athleticism in college on offense. He really struggled on defense in college. Boozer is so well rounded that there are not many holes despite some vertical challenges. I love how he plays too. Similar to Kon and Cooper. He just goes out there and plays. Doesn't get in any of the rift raft or trash talking. He doesn't dominate the ball, he just does all the little things that are easy to miss.

Would love this kid if we could get a second first round pick..even if he duplicates some of our current players

It's been called several different things over time, and now there's no real prognosis in the public sphere. That alone would be enough for me to take Boozer. BTW, Boozer has more 3-point attempts this season that Dybantsa, and is shooting it better. Boozer has more rebounds, more assists, and fewer TOs. Given Boozer's grooming and all the awards, I think he's almost as ready for the NBA as Flagg was.

That kind of shooting skill is hard to come by. In two of his last five games, he shot 10 3-pointers. In one of those games, he made six out of ten, and in the other game, he made five out of 10.

I have not watched him but the reports prior to the season was he is a good defender. He has good size. I am not sure how accurate that is though.

Arizona freshman guard Brayden Burries. After a slow start he has really picked it up. He is a big physical guard. Already 20 and will turn 21 in September so he is an older freshman

Soph Tyler Tanner for the undefeated Vanderbilt team.

He is indeed a good defender. And has perfect size for the 2 guard. Can also get his own shot too, not just a catch and shoot 3 guy. I think he’s gonna be really good.

Mullins is 100% making it in todays NBA. But he won't be a Mav. If we pick inside the top 8, we'll take one of the PG's. If it's outside of the top 8, he will be gone already.

If it's outside of the top 8, he will be gone already. I don't know about that. Flemings will be gone, and if Mullins and M. Brown are still there, I'm not so sure you can pass on Mullins for Brown (assuming both are where they are currently slotted). Brown is a good PG, but really struggling with perimeter shooting now - which is the very thing Mullins is great at. You need another PG somewhere in a trade, but Kyrie and Mullins looks pretty decent as the guards assuming Mullins can play both ways. Brown's stock is going down a bit while Mullin's is rising, but there's a lot of season left. A lot could change.
Mikel brown is a pretty polarizing prospect and he is all over draft boards. He is a bigger guard and in high school play and international play he was known as one of the better shooters in the class. Although thru the first half of the season he is shooting 28 percent from three on 7 attempts per game and 38 percent overall. For him, your scouts really have to be watching him throughout the high school circuit to know if this is just a bad stretch and that he will be a plus shooter. He has also missed some time with a bad back.
Skill wise and what he was billed to be, he would be perfect for the Mavs. I have not watched him though. What he has shown so far this year makes it a little more difficult . https://youtu.be/A0Cs8epzzss?si=RN9HeiDDYvREJA1l (01-10-2026, 08:07 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: Mikel brown is a pretty polarizing prospect and he is all over draft boards. But, like Black, perimeter shooting will not be the best part of his game. I think a lot of analysts are thinking Brown's struggles from the perimeter will self-correct sometime this season. He has a great FT% if that's any indication.

It is funny when I watched high school clips of him in high school this summer, I didn’t buy the 6’5 height. I was thinking more like 6’3. In his college highlights he looks closer to 6’5 though.
Mullins is all over the daft board too. I've seen him at #26 and #7 and several in between.
Philon also is slotted in the top 10 in most drafts. He was condisdering the draft last year, but decided to go back to school. That will likely turn into a very smart move. His stats look great for a PG this season. And he's always changing his speed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGOhUPYpISk&t=126s

I liked Philon last year in his support role and thought he would make a jump this year with a bigger role. I didn’t expect such a big jump in scoring. He has been really good. His support role last was really promising how he fit in with an older team and found a good role. Both would be considerations in the range I thought we would be picking (8/9 to 12). I hope we are picking higher now. |
