It feels like salary needs to be shed, somehow, but lord almighty I sure hope it doesn't come to actually spending limited assets to do it.
I can still get behind the idea that AD here next season, with Flagg, Kyrie, Lively, whomever they draft and anything else leftover might NOT be as depressing as we think, but...I'm not paying the tax bill for this super expensive (losing) team.
Its a legit danger. Even when trading assets like Gafford and Naji, they may have to prioritize cap relief over assets and young players. Even if they are willing to pay tax eventually, they need to get out of the repeater tax before loading up.

I don't think so , even i was not agree with those comments.
Keep calm and wait a good trade, GMs often make stupid moves.
He is not an expires and he can't hurt to much our tanking because he plays 50% of the games.
For sure Dumont from "Dumb and dumber"is NOT the right guy who can make a big trade.

The sad part of Anthony Davis is that no one really wants him here at this point. We can keep him, but his presence on this team will be nothing more than a painful reminder. The next positive thing we will say about AD is when he is shipped to another team ... for pretty much anything.
I think the thing to do now is to focus on upgrading the roster with other trades. Any mention of AD is depressing.
2029 Lakers pick
28, Luka opts out - comes back home
Leaving a terrible Lakers team with role players that fit with Luka, that they signed this offseason looking to make a push for a title.
It's all gonna work out

See, in a scenario like this, which, admittedly, is probably among the best case scenarios at this point, I think the ATL package with 0 draft capital might still be on the table. Might be.

Haha, nothing you can do but laugh at this point. I was actually surprised he wasn’t on the IR last night.

I mean that still puts him post TDL. You really think they will pull the trigger to take on that contract sight unseen if you will? My guess is they pivot (if they haven't already) to Zubak.
I am really curious how close he was to being part of the Trae trade and what the return would have been.

It would give me pause if I were in their shoes, no doubt.
However, he would be back in time to help them this year (in that hypothetical) and if they had already convinced themselves to play ball on an extension, well...this non-shooting hand injury is a lot better than a lower body injury with that situation.
We'll see. This sucks, no matter how you look at it, but all might not be lost yet.

I think in a year or two we're all going to be pretty upset looking back at THIS right here. Its quite possible this was close to being a 3 way with us getting decent assets in return.
We played him knowing he's made of glass. I think he has zero value at this point. When we finally trade him, for peanuts, its going to hurt if we know what we could have gotten. I'd rather not know

I am curious what the starting lineup is going to be now. Normally I would anticipate a lot more point Flagg to put the tank in full swing, but it would take a lot of effort to not start a PG with no AD. Maybe Gafford/Flagg/PJ/Naji/Max?

I take Kidd at his word about this. I think he felt forced to start Flagg at PG recently because he was trying to play AD/Gafford together to start games. That mission is over for a minimum of 6 weeks, so I imagine we'll see either Williams or Nembhard in the starting lineup from here on in. We'll see though.

I think they are going to need Cisse at this point. I wonder if they can find some way in a trade to upgrade the contract status of Cisse and Nembhard both.

I appreciate your optimism. I thought getting significant value for AD was hanging by a thread so I have a really hard time seeing it happen now.
On the bright side they still have Flagg and this will probably improve the upcoming pick. Imagine if they didn't have Flagg!
But the rest of this season is going to suck. Its hard not to root for losses and the only players I am really interested in anymore are Flagg and Max.

Meh, I'm doubting AD was really on the trade block this was just a bunch of PR bs to appease the fan base still angry about Nico & Luka that wants him gone. That finger injury is just to help the tank this year and he'll be here next year to go in with Kyrie. Those trade packages all sucked anyways. If you free up AD's cap space, what are you going to do with it? Gotta spend it on the best players you can and you won't fill that space up with any player anywhere near AD's level. If AD can work with the Mavs on a reasonable contract extension like Kyrie did maybe he can stay, but if he just wants max money he'll be gone soon. Lots of top level players are easily still going strong into age 37/38 these days. AD only really has soft tissue injuries nothing catastrophic like Klay's and AD also never really misses playoff games.

This is why I wanted out of the AD business ASAP. The longer you hold onto him, the closer you get to a Porzingis type return. (Yall thought I was exxagerating...)
This significantly impacts his return, even over the summer, by when his hand should be healed. Just another injury to add to the long list.

No, this is terrible news.
The best venues to improves this team were:
1. hope you get lucky in the 2026 draft lottery
2. get future assets for AD
Now, 2 is severely diminshed.

I guess we can start talking about if anyone else on our roster can even fetch a single 1st rd pick.
