Sources: New Orleans Pelicans are disappointing the market in informing teams that Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy, Herb Jones, Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears will remain with the organization past Feb. 5 trade deadline.

I am sure they would move Zion.  I think this is just public messaging that the offer are not good enough.  I wouldn't trade him if I was just getting junk.   His contract is easy to get out of.    I think there is a good chance he is moved though.

Murphy is going to get a lot.   He is at least at Bane level on assets back, I think.   I think if he is moved it will be in the offseason.  He should be a core piece though, unless NO decides to tear down.

Herb Jones is going to get a lot of interest and he may be moved to.   Due to his skillset, he is going to have a lot of interest.

Pels have some talent.  They can have a quick little rebuilt with a good draft pick this year...oh wait....

This trade might hinge on something as simple as the development of the Cavs record.

Right now it´s the 16th pick, but they are only four games back from the 24th pick and everybody is waiting for them to put it all together. Much different pick value for the Mavs. On the other hand, if the Cavs don´t pick up as expected, the Hawks could meet the Cavs in the play-in tournament, beat them and thereby hand the Mavs their own lottery pick.

In four weeks the range of the pick could be a little clearer for both sides.

Those three plus Kennard work for AD/DAR/Hardy according to RealGM.

Smile Saddest part is they also traded Indy 26 pick for Indy pick in 2025 (which was later also traded for Queen) just a week before Hali tear his achilles. If they waited with the trade till draft night...

Sometimes bad stuff happens to you, no matter how expert your GM is.

Trying to guess Morants destination. Minny, Houston, Milwaukee and Miami were mentioned with Houston already also declared as not interested, so let me focus on the other three.

Miami makes a lot of sense. They need to do something to get out of mediocrity and Ja could fit their fast style of play. They have Jovic, Jaquez, Ware and Jakucionis as interesting young players, but none of them is a star material. Memphis is already loaded with young talented role player level guys. They have Williams, Wells and Jackson at SG/SF, so Jaquez would get into a crowded house. They have Edey at center so little sense to trade for Ware. Jovic is least interesting of the three with his new extension kicking in in the summer. He would also be playing behind JJJ. Based on this Jakucionis would make most sense. Another big question which I think is still unaswered is, if they can trade Roziers expiring deal due to his legal problems. Rozier, Mitchell and Jakucionis works for Morant, Pippen and GG Jackson. Add some draft capital and could be interesting trade for both sides.

Minnesota will have a trouble matching salary as either Gobert or Randle would need to be the main salary going out. I doubt either is very interesting for Memphis. Minny is playing well recently, so I am not sure if it makes sense to break up their core with such a drastic move. I think it makes more sense for them to add a PG at MLE level salary. Dillingham is the young talent they could offer. In any case, I am not sure this match makes much sense for both teams.

Milwaukee is desperate. Their offer would be something like Kuzma, Portis and Rollins. A very meh package again as Portis overlaps with JJJ and Aldama and Kuzma sucks. Kuzma has one more year on his deal while Portis has two.

To me, "the Mavs getting fleeced" in an AD-to-Atl trade would be AD for expirings/non-useful players with no draft capital added. (Of course getting Nico-fleeced would be that deal with the Mavs being the ones sending back the draft capital) "The Mavs fleecing Atlanta would be AD + our junk salaries for expirings, OO, Risacher, and the Pels pick. Anything in between would be evaluated in terms of which of those two deals it more resembles.

I'm still nervous about the Mavs dealing AD before the deadline without a real GM, but if they deal with Atlanta and the return is closer to us fleecing them, that will give the new GM a good base to work with.

Hate to say it, and I'm not totally confident in this prediction, but...I kind of feel like the next GM is already here. I think he's the current head coach.

Milwaukee would probably be my prediction, though I can certainly see Miami.

Is Morant's value any higher than Trae Young's?

Mil is desperate to make a move, so they are willing to gamble.  Don't think it will work out though.

I don't see Minnesota going at that level.   A lot of $.

I think Miami uses their resources for another player in time.  Although they are one of the few places where Ja might turn things around a bit.

PHX has been one of the surprising teams of the year.

How about AD for Jalen Green, Maluach and Royce O'neal.  Green and Maluach haven't really helped them this year.

No draft picks because PHX can't trade any.   3 for 1 wouldn't work for Dallas but just throwing it out there.

Report out that AD sustained ligament damage in his hand and could be out months. Why would any team trade for him now?

Might not be. But in that case I think Memphis just keeps him

If JKidd is our GM, then we still are lightyears from having a real GM. Horrendous.

I despise injuries. Dallas is truly cursed.

So AD is almost certainly not going anywhere before the TDL. Time for the full tank. I can still see Dallas being aggressive shopping guys like Gafford, Naji, and Klay to playoff teams for picks.

Whelp, look like all of the AD trade talk has been a waste of time. Ligament damage in the finger. Probably kills any TDL trades. Good luck to any folks thinking we are ever going to get talent for talent trade with this guy. FU Nico!

Time to start focusing on shedding cap. Maybe they can get a second and expiring for Klay.

Let's not jump off any bridges yet. What I read said "if" he requires surgery.

No team will trade anything of substance for him during this season. Can only hope a team will give us some salary relief in the off season. This is exactly why many of us said you had to trade him now. It was just a matter of time.

Maybe he can be healthy the first few months of next season and we can get something for him next deadline. But thats a year less of commitment and acquiring team would have. Any talks of New Orleans first rounders or young talent like Risacher, Okongwu, etc. Thats over.
