Don't hold me to this, but I think Atlanta has 2 picks this year with a convoluted mess of swaps and protections. One pick is the best of NO and MIL. It would be #2 right now. I doubt they give that up, though they might give it up with protections. Atlanta also gets the least favorable of their own and the SA pick but there are swaps on swaps that tie Utah, Minnesota and Cleveland into this (and not in a favorable way for Atlanta). This pick is likely in the 20's.
Assuming they make a pick of some kind in 2026, they could also trade the 2027 they own, which is the better of the NOP and MIL picks with protections. Atlanta might get nothing if both picks land in the top 4. So, there is risk to that pick not being very good as well. I think the key to such a deal with Atlanta would be to try to get the better 2026 pick with protections of maybe 1-4 and if it doesn't convey, Dallas gets the other 2026. Then, on the 2027 Dallas gets an unprotected 2029 from Atlanta if neither of the NO and MIL picks convey in 2027. Something like that might yield two picks the next two years in the mid to late lottery, but might also yield a 2026 pick in the 20's and an unprotected pick in 2029. It would certainly add some intrigue to the draft lottery.
FWIW, I would kind of like a NAW/Christie rotation at the two...especially if you could move Klay for value.
Salary relief, a quality 3&D MLE player, a lottery pick in 2026 and another first. I probably pull the trigger on that, but I am concerned that it does not address the ball handling/creation issues.

Where do you see a lottery pick? The Hawks pick will end up being in the 20s, but you are correct in this sh*tass deal we should get their Pelicans pick.

The Atlanta trade that I think makes the most sense is similar to what's been outlined but using Kennard's expiring as well.
KP/Kennard/Asa Newell/the 26 and 27 picks that have been swapped all the way back and you simply buy out KP since Exum has created a situation to be able to take one two players for one AD.
It sucks but....I'm not really expecting much from all this. Just got to get that giant number off the books.

Surprised that folks on this board are viewing the KD package as the "floor" for AD. KD was on an expiring deal so whoever traded for him would be able to negotiate an extension that makes sense for them (KD is now going to make $16M less than AD two years from now). Plus who cares about the age difference when you have one dude playing at an all nba level still and another who can't get on the floor.
If we can get a good week or two out of AD the best move would be the move him as soon as other teams see that before this situation gets worse. It's time to get on Cooper's timeline and not fall into any sort of sunk cost fallacy thinking, just got to pay the stupid tax and move on.

Wouldn't mind the Mavericks front office going after Paola Banchero of the Magic.

Wagner/Banchero is Tatum/Brown 2.0. Question is whether Orlando will have the same patience. It´s undeniable that Magic fans are not that happy with Banchero. Never had a positive +/- for a season, poor true shooting percentage and somebody posted stats that they are a winning team without Banchero, but a losing team without Wagner.
Contract aside not sure how Orlando would react, if the Hawks offered Young + Pelicans + Suns 1st in 2026 for Banchero. I think the Magic do that deal.

Yeah i know...... it sucks because this guy looks like a young lebron james the way he's able to pass the ball and shoot for his size. You could easily play him @ the two position, ition and he can defend shooting guards.

Mavs don't have great bargaining power now, but I am not crazy of the bulls offfer. I would take Buzelis as the headliner but I am sure the Bulls would not want to do that. I would hold out though. That bulls front office is not great and the fanbase doesn't like them.
I like Coby White but not sure his long term fit. Although Coby White at 18 million is much better than 30 million. So his next contract is really the big question mark. He is not a point guard either. So, you are looking to partner him with Max. Things get tight in the lineup imo.
If I am the Mavs I am in no hurry to trade AD...I take the injury risk and also think eventually him traded is the eventual outcome.
edit- a Flagg and Buzelis wing lineup would be really exciting.

This is Chicago negotiating through the media IMO.
We are giving Mavs expiring + draft picks.
Same way Mavs said we aren't trading AD through Cuban, to drive up the price

Hopefully the Mavs don't cave. They need to be prepared to hold onto AD in my opinion. I look forward to seeing the Bulls lose in the play-in again.

The demand for AD may be lukewarm at the moment, but there should be no rush. Give it time. Teams need to have time to play the game of "Wait, what if we got AD to fix our needs" in their own mind. That's when they come and make a serious effort -- using real assets, not scraps and leftovers -- to try to outbid others and get him.
It will happen. It just will take some time. Gotta be patient.
The worst way to do it would be to chase a deal, where they target this team or that. Let the other teams chase. They will self-sort eventually and some serious ones will emerge (those are the ones who will make BIG offers to add an All-Star big who is a great defender). The teams we hear about now are the ones who are hoping to get AD for pennies on the dollar, assuming the Mavs are desperate to move him. If CHI is talking about Giddey and a 1st as part of the package, or some deal like that, THEN it's time to listen.

Patience is the key. Being bad only benefits us this year, so unless you blow me away with offers, I'm in no rush to improve another team's draft picks.

So the Bulls have always been a close to the vest kind of team since AK’s arrival. Anything substantial before the deadline is through Shams and anything after is mostly through KC.
They wanted this to get out…we’re gonna give up the Giannis package minus Matas for AD…

I’m assuming the Bulls side of the “AD to Chicago” deal is probably like 80% complete from the Collier blurbs I’m reading here.
AD in a Bulls jersey doesn’t feel like an “if, more like a “when”.

The Giannis package via the Bulls reporters is
5 FRPs, swaps, and 2nds, plus a piece of their young core (White, Matas, etc.)

If that's the kind of package the Bulls are offering for AD then I can only assume Nico's no longer unemployed.
