I am pretty sure we are going to see some magical moments when Cooper shows what he can do and when you need stops to win a game our front court is enough to get the job done when it is healthy.
Injury recovery is the topic of this team and if there is a team that needs to invest in using better medical technologies and finding innovative ways to keep their team better able to handle the rigors of an NBA season the Mavs are it.
They do not impress me in that area of need and I could probably help them to improve their ability to protect their investment they have in their players health way better than anyone currently on their payroll and that is a shame.

Sucks for him. Whether he was totally innocent is another story, but still he missed out on FA. Is there any team that can/will offer him more than the minimum. What are some good options for him?
Apparently he is still subject to be called by a grand jury and charges can still be filed.
Makes sense as to why no team has signed him yet. Shams being an agent's mouthpiece yet again by painting this story in the most positive light for Beasely's side.

Who are all of these white guards that are greatly overrated by fans? Most are relegated to "hard worker" or "glue guy" status. I think it's more accurate to say that one dimensional scoring guards are greatly overrated by fans.

The "old" line use to be, very smart and intelligent for white players that were deemed not athletic.

Plaintiffs aren't called before the grand jury, just the prosecution and law enforcement.

So maybe he returns to Detroit. If not, a good team is going to get a player at a discount. Saw maybe Minnesota or the Knicks. I am not sure if Minnesota is an option but that is a well run team. He would look good there off the bench.

Grimes…
I just don’t see PHI keeping him, with Maxey, McCain, and Edgecombe all ahead of him.
Thoughts on his vale in a S&T?

In practical terms, I would say "None." I don't think he can be traded, because some team would have to offer him what he wants (the "sign" part) and there's no evidence any team wants to pay him like that.

Just in: Restricted free agent Josh Giddey has reached agreement on a four-year, $100 million deal to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls, agent Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports Management tells ESPN.

That makes Giddey the 2nd RFA signing. Surprised the Bulls finally budged.
Cam Thomas took the QO
Giddey got his 100mil.
Now Kuminga and Grimes are the only two left and truthfully I think they are seeking roles that just don't exist for them.

I think Grimes is very likely to take the QO.
On Kuminga, he would be smart to take the compromise deal GS is offering 2 yrs 45M with year 2 being a TO. In essence with the QO being 8M, he would be comparatively getting about 37M on the added year. He's refusing and wants the TO changed to a PO, but that makes no sense for GS to basically give him 1 year 22M instead of 1year 8M -- they are getting nothing for the added cost.
I don’t expect GS will offer more. GS can't go higher if they are going to finish commitments they want to be able to do (especially Horford and maybe Payton). And I don't really feel he's worth more anyhow.
But imo it's all on Kuminga - QO of 8M, or 2 yr 45M with year 2 being a TO. His protection against the TO is that he still gets 22M this season instead .

I think Kuminga will sign his QO, unless GSW gives him the PO, because he simply wants to go to the team of his choosing as soon as possible, which is likely next summer. He was very consistent on this. They likely can't get much for him if he signs his QO. I think this one will go to the last day and Kuminga takes his QO, unless GSW balks and gives him his PO. I don't understand why GSW doesn't sign a couple of vet min guys - Kuminga stand-off has no impact on them. It only has impact on guys getting more than vet min, where GSW is more or less in all scenarios limited to tax MLE (basically one player with higher than vet min salary). The only other guy that could get more than vet min is GPIII because of his bird rights.
As for Grimes, it seems Philly really wants to keep him as there are reports they are looking to shed salary to open more money for him. I think they will find an agreement on a longer term contract. Seems like they already burned some bridges with Oubre (he has one of those contracts that they seem to be looking to move), who didn't appreciate being seen as an obstacle to resign Grimes.

So you don't discuss deals unless some podcaster gets picked up on hoopshype with their nonsense that is no more informed than our own?
Jesus. Can you not just give a $ amount?

I just don't think they can spend that kind of jack on a 4th string SG.

"I think this one will go to the last day and Kuminga takes his QO, unless GSW balks and gives him his PO" -- I think there is 0% chance GS gives Kuminga a TO (because if they do, all they've done is to swap a 1 yr 8M contract for a 1 yr 22M contract). I think Kuminga might take the 2 year deal (which replaces 1 yr 8M with either (a) an extra 37M if he stays in GS a 2nd year, or (b) an extra 14M if he only stays in GS the 1 year. IMO it's actually a really good offer.
"I don't understand why GSW doesn't sign a couple of vet min guys - Kuminga stand-off has no impact on them" -- I think GS generally has all the players lined up, and those unsigned guys are probably working out with other GS players now in the Sept "camp before training camp." But they may be exercising caution with hard commitments to stave off the potential for BKN to make an offer to Kuminga that they can't match. BKN could offer about 24M if they wanted to. GS only has about 14M to pay 4-5 players (which includes Horford and Payton) if Kuminga takes the 22M, so the details of what they will be working with really matters.
" As for Grimes, it seems Philly really wants to keep him as there are reports they are looking to shed salary to open more money for him. I think they will find an agreement on a longer term contract." --- We'll see. I'm pessimistic on that outcome. I think those "reports" are essentially an expression of wishful thinking (which is Morey's style for many years and then nothing happens).
To me PHI's problem isn't so much a lack of money to spend but a lack of desire to spend the amount on Grimes that Grimes wants. I also think Philly would prefer to see what Grimes looks like when there's a whole team, and what his "value" is when he's the 5th option rather than the 1st or 2nd, before making a massive commitment.

I just don't see PHI signing Grimes to a long term contract. With Maxey, McCain, and Edgecombe ahead of him and 3 max contract players, it really makes no sense. IMO, they are retaining Grimes' value for a trade.
They are completely thin at true SF. Oubre is it.
Not saying Nico would do it because it'd be admitting his mistake, but would you trade Naji and picks for Grimes? S&T of say $22m/yr for 4 years? Naji better fits their roster in having a 2-way player at a great value.

I am one of the biggest Grimes fans on this board, but I would not do that. It does not look like he can get more than full MLE on the open market, so why would we pay significantly more than that plus add picks? I also think he has established that he is not the POA defender this team needs.
