Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST
I don't think anyone will trade for LeBron. It just doesn't make sense for any team, really.

I suppose it's possible he asks LA for a buyout and they grant the request, but even that is a stretch.

I don't understand why LA would entertain such a request. He had all the possibility in the world to reject his option and go to a team of his choosing, if that was his wish.

In any case, I think everything is far overblown.

I don't think it will happen, either.

But, he is LeBron James, so it wouldn't shock me if they accommodated him.

Agree with both of you. He has to know that at $52.6M if he got traded it would gut whatever team he was going to. I think he opted in to get one last giant check before sailing into the sunset.

Or maybe… if he feels good at the end of the year and after getting this check, he signs a 1-year deal somewhere for else for whatever room they have so he joins a stacked team in the hopes of one last championship run.

Either way, I don’t see anything happening this year.

I mean...MAYBE he tried to get his customary 1+1, only the Lakers weren't interested, which could explain his angst from this past week.

None of it really matters at the end of the day. He's 41 and can still play a little, but nowhere near being worth what it would take to get him in a trade, due to salary alone. They (the Lakers) are one of the worst run franchises in all of pro sports, and have been for quite some time. Judging by what they did before LeBron randomly decided to go there and then he and AD colluded his path to follow...and also, everything they did between that asterisk bubble championship and the crazy trade of last season...my guess is that Pelinka and Buss will be out and long gone before the Lakers are good again (Luka, too).

Sure. If they buy him out and he signs for the vet-minimum, I’m in.

The Dallas Lakers would be complete.

Easy peasy.

I wonder if he really is delusional enough to think he could force a buyout after opting in.

Haha exactly what I was thinking. AD, Christie, LeBron, DLo, Kidd, Vogel… do we still have Dudley?

I've now had a chance to look at the numbers, and LA has more room than stated. So far, they are at ~190M with 13 players. Min is 2.3M per slot, and A1 is 195.9.

PLAN 1 - room for 2 more players (14 and 15).
VS
PLAN 2 - BAE is 5.134, so they have room to spend BAE on player 14 (leave 15 empty)

VARIABLE 1 - Milton is NG and can be waived, but his salary is 3M and empty slot is 2.3 so room gained is only 0.7M. Same basic choices result, with a diff minimum salary player able to be added.

VARIABLE 2 -  SRP #36 is signed to 15-man (ie, not 2-way) and fills a slot. But likely no change to choices, as he's likely to get SRP exception money so LA can offer 3+ years, which (likely) bumps 1st year salary to close to regular minimum of 2.3M range.

CONCLUSION - LA can have 15 man roster, or a BAE player, but not both.

No, after. They still need the back-up center and Horford would be a steal

Lakers defense is gonna be comical bad unless they acquire multiple good wing defenders.

We did McGee already.  I looked at players who are still in the league dating back to the Laker championship.  Caruso, Monk and KCP are still possibilities.

GS, Sacramento, and Detroit are discussing a three-way trade.

Pacers still have their MLE and BAE... Only at 11 roster spots. Probably punting this season. I wonder if they'd take Powell AND Omax for air...

Top free agents remaining on the market (minus Damian Lillard):

PG: J. Giddey ®, C. Paul, M. Brogdon, R. Westbrook, B. Simmons

SG: C. Thomas ®, Q. Grimes ®

SF: A. Coffey, C. Martin, T. Craig

PF: J. Kuminga ®, C. Boucher, T. Lyles

C: A. Horford, M. Wagner, T. Bryant, B. Bol
