The Mavericks have indeed secured their long-anticipated verbal agreement with D’Angelo Russell on a two-year deal worth nearly $12 million, league sources say.

That's the whole tpMLE, basically.

I wonder how tight this makes things, with the cap reportedly not being raised as much as expected.

Good deal, though.

I think he'll fit pretty well.

Honestly, talent per dollar, we got a great guard for the money.

He may become one of the most frustrating guys to watch. But he's not going to be the main guy at all when Kyrie returns. And I think the Mavs view him as a temporary stopgap too.

Perhaps I misread, but my understanding was that numbers were for the next season

What's a full season at the vet minimum, these days? I know they don't have roster space without removing someone, anyway, but they actually got into hot water last year with injuries and actually couldn't afford to sign replacements. I hope they have enough wiggle room to avoid that this time around when the dust clears.

Mavericks are signing D’Angelo Russell to a 2-year deal worth ~ $12M, sources confirm to The Athletic.

Russell addresses two major needs: ballhandling and outside shooting. He made 226 3s in 2023-24, the 10th-most of any NBA player.

Reunites with Anthony Davis, his former Lakers teammate.

3.3 mil, however the league subsidizes it over a certain amount. The current cut-off I believe is 7 years. Anthing over that amount the league will subsidize.

1                   $2,048,491

No player option and no no-trade clause? The makes him a legit asset. I'm happy.

I would have been surprised if this wasn't the case.  He sees this as a chance for him to score a bigger contract next season if he balls out until Kyrie comes back.
