Flagg and Nembhard together should be fun.

Actually semi-shocked Nembhard went undrafted AND that the Mavs managed to pick him up??

After his brother's performance this year I figured some team would want to try and get their own Nembhard.

Wow. Ryan Nembhard falls into the perfect situation in Dallas. So special as a playmaker, and he'll be surrounded by so much length to mitigate concerns about his size on defense. A+ team/prospect fit.

I've had my eye on him as an end-of-round-2 guy with a wish he ends up undrafted where the Mavs might get him as a two-way. That the Mavs actually got him on a 2-way deal is imo a really good get.

The flaw in his game is that he's really short, small. That can't be fixed, and it creates a ceiling.

But the rest of his game is there. He's really good at setting the table, and he can shoot too.

His upside? JJB. McConnell.

That is VERY VERY VERY unlikely right away, but if he can learn how to navigate the trees on offense and use his small size to be a pest on defense, he could be very helpful in a couple years. He has learning ahead of him. But I like this.

Truthfully, there weren't that many teams that could both offer Ryan an opportunity to get some real game minutes AND be able to cover his short comings so that he can actually become established in the league.

Further, if everything does seem to go to plan, the Mavs will have at least 3 other guards (one being Kyrie) that can teach him so that he isn't thrown into the fire alone.

I'm shocked that they got him as an UDFA truly.

Also played at Monteverdi with a stacked team. His paths with Cooper didn’t cross due to age differences. With high school and two colleges he played on deep teams. Won’t need to learn the point guard position. Very small. I don’t know very much about him but if he has the poise and toughness as his brother that may give him a chance.

Yeah they played together in high school wonder if Cooper was able to help facilitate his friends signing here?

Same as Allen Iverson - and Chris Paul. Wouldn’t he be a nice mentor?

I would rather have his brother whose just better especially on defense. But he may work out. He could wind up being Kyrie's replacement in the short term, and they won't have to sign a vet PG.

I correct what I said in the summer league thread which I saw first. Now I’m excited and I’ve already moved to the acceptance stage on Nico. With Kyrie out, if someone gets injured he is a table setter who might just play his 50 games early as a change of pace guard to fill whatever desperate minutes we end up having this year.
