2025 draft thread: THE MAVS SELECT COOPER FLAGG
(06-25-2025, 05:19 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: At pick 12 tonight it will be interesting who you would pick if the Mavs stayed at 12.

But that wouldn’t have been the most relevant question - my biggest fear would have been what ideas Nico would have had at number 12.

So the good thing is that this year the number talent is so good and so far above every other player that it‘s gonna be smooth sailing even with Nico!

That pick would have gone to the Suns for Durant.

The Dallas Mavericks, who stunned the lottery odds with a 1.8% chance to land the No. 1 pick, are selecting Cooper Flagg tonight, league sources tell me. Dallas has also explored trade scenarios to acquire an additional pick in today’s NBA Draft, sources said.

Two names to monitor in trade discussions as the Mavericks explore acquiring another pick in today’s draft: Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Jaden Hardy, league sources say.

I had such high hopes for O'Max as his build and movement reminded me a lot of Dennis Rodman. Boy did I set myself up for disappointment.

Good thing is we get O-Max on steroids tonight. Everything we hoped for in our defensive and offensive projections for him Flagg already is at 18 years old.

If I had Shams job, I´d crash the internet by tweeting that the Mavs are intending to select Dylan Harper with the top pick in the 2025 NBA draft; as soon as the Mavs go on the clock. 30M views in 60 seconds. Big Grin Big Grin

I wonder what their league-wide value would bring back?  Mid-to-late second round picks?

I can't imagine either gets you a first round pick.   They haven't shown much.   Jaden more so than Omax.  Omax has the measurables, just hasn't shown much.

I also am doubtful Martin returns a first.   Heck, his brother may be released soon.   So you can pick up the lesser martin brother for free.

I think it's possible that people are gonna be shocked at just how easily late firsts are about to be required. There's no precedent yet, but it sure seems like the end of the first round is a less valuable place to draft than ever before, due to a significant amount of guys staying in college.

That's one of the more interesting things I'll be watching tonight.

I was there with you until I saw him step on the court with NBA starters and saw he didn't belong.

From Jake Fischer

"I believe there's so much in flux leading up to tonight's proceedings because team after team that I've spoken to this week has indicated a willingness to field offers while they're on the clock and weigh the benefits of moving down. The prospect of wheeling and dealing starts right with Philadelphia at No. 3 and Charlotte at No. 4. Even if those teams end up holding onto those picks, I fully believe we are going to see a flurry of trades. "There's gonna be at least four or five," one Western Conference team strategist told me late Tuesday night."

The Grizzlies and Thunder are two teams to monitor as trade-up candidates into the lottery, per @KevinOConnorNBA (https://t.co/FFfO6gMZWG).

Both teams could even be looking to get into the top-10, if the price is right.
