MAVS NEWS:

100% agree on tier 1. Would pass on the other two, but if I had to choose, though Brogdon is the better player, he’s going to spend the majority of the season in street clothes. Would prefer Paul over DLo.

Now if we can add to that sum and do so by trading off guys on our team we would like to trade off, ie Powell, Martin, and Hardy. That would free up an additional sum of 19.5 Million that might get divied up over some more players we might want try and acquire.

You got your 10 man core of Cooper, AD, Irving, PJ, Lively as the starters and bench is BWill, Naji, Gafford, Max, Klay and the
11th guy is Omax.

You do what you can to add in a PG with that extra cash we got thanks to Kyrie, and that is 12. But wait you got to have more guys on the team than that, hence the reason for that trade off of our three unfortunates.

I think with what you have left you can add Kai Jones, and a 2nd rounder and a few rookies for 2 ways. Oklahoma has a lot of guys they may cut that we can choose from. From the sound of things we might find a lot of good guys getting let go all over the league and get some useful veterans who want to play still.

And then there were two…

Report: The Mavs have narrowed their PG search down to D'Angelo Russell and Malcolm Brogdon. They want to sign one of these PGs with their MLE, per Shams

This second apron era seems like the opposite of the year every team suddenly had max cap space and the Warriors were able to sign KD. A few teams that know what they’re doing are going to set themselves up for a few years.

And DLo would be a pretty good pickup.

That's making the assumption there are no incentives included in the 119M total. I'm wondering if that's a good assumption. When the last deal with the Mavs/Kyrie was leaked, with same GM, same agent, and Kyrie, the leaked number actually included some incentives in the total.

For example, if he's getting 1.5M in incentives each year, then his salary may be starting at around 35M, not 36.7.

I'm not sure if I'm more elated that Schroeder is off the list or annoyed that CP3 is.

I've been advocating for this for about 2 months --- but there's info missing. How? Assuming they plan to add a PG with the TxMLE as advertised, the 15-man roster is full.

They already have 3 C's, not including AD. Gotta be doing some sort of trade to open up a reason and a space for Kai to be signed.

And do they also have Exum on their radar PLUS a PG with the MLE? Roster space is way overbooked, it seems.

Wonder how that affects the cap. Hopefully it's vet min. It also strikes me, evidently you can never have too many bigs. Considering AD has to have some minutes at center, whether he likes it or not (unless Steph wants to take some of his summer free time teaching him how to shoot), someone's got to be outgoing.

It’s weird to feel weird about watching the front office navigate this offseason well.

Could literally just draft Flagg, sign D’Lo (not a fan but you could do a lot worse given the situation) and extend PJ to a fair but tradeable contract like Gafford and the offseason will have been solid. Was certain they’d have to trade someone for a guard but now that’s not even that necessary.

CP3 is 40 years old. Mavs need a guard that can carry 30 MPG easily for six months. Russell and Schroeder make the most sense in that situation. Plus he´s a minimum guy, nothing more.

A potential trade of Hardy, Powell, Martin gets you to Sexton. Also we can just trade a future 1st, if we really like a guard in this draft. What good will the Lakers 2029 pick be, if we want somebody on the same timeline as Flagg? They love Denim, Traore or somebody else, just get them. There is no need to give up players.

Another fantastic move by Harrison... If just the league didn't forced us to trade Luka. Damn.

Paul would be a good get. Might take a lot of recruiting. I have to think Schroeder is out of our price range. Was a big brogdan fan for years but not sure if he has it anymore. Plus not really a table setter type player I think we need. Not a big d- lo fan. May prefer Tre jones over him. Not very excited about that either. I wonder if they go the trade route.

The first thing you think about it that 1-2 players are outgoing for "future" draft capital, but I generally don't see anything like that. Maybe European guys you can stash? Just thinking out loud. Or Powell gone, and Kai gets that spot?

It's just hard for me to get my mind around Hardy and Martin being here. Powell is only here because we can't imagine him not being here. The Mavs bench has his butt-prints on it.
