SGA would get a better haul, but we can ignore the circumstances that motivated the Clippers to do the trade. Getting PG13 is a big reason they were able to sign KL and it's why I didn't agree with the article that was posted here calling it the worst trade ever. Further, SGA then wasn't the MVP we see now. Yes he had potential, but the Clippers were in a win now mode. As they say, Hindsight is 20-20.
I think the better what-if scenario, that is slightly more likely, but still a huge stretch is Ant. That's someone we know Nico likes. The construction of the Wolves kind of puts them against a wall in my opinion and while they'd never offer it, if Ant asked out, they'd have to consider it. It's not happening, but I'd do that trade.

[Stein] The Detroit Pistons are expected to show interest in a stretch big in free agency. They are known to covet Naz Reid and Myles Turner, thought it's unclear if they will be able to acquire either player

We have to remember Ant is just 23 years old. He'll get better with time and experience. I wonder what the next step roster wise is for them? IMO, McDaniels and Ant are their untouchables. Will they keep Randle and Nikiel Alexander? Will they let Reid walk?

Reid would be a nice fit for them. I don't think Turner is in play. He'd be going to a division rival. Maybe. I've been hearing the Lakers and Warriors are interested.

The father of a potential lottery pick says the Milwaukee Bucks have contacted his son and have been doing background research on him, despite not owning a first-round pick, per @Barlowe500
“Milwaukee doesn’t have a pick in the first round, not even in the top 10. But they’re asking about my son and wanting to know a little bit more information. They’ve called, and I don’t understand why they have interest unless they plan on making a move.”

Dante Exum and Mavs have mutual Interest according to M Stein

It's hard to know exactly what the Mavs are thinking. A healthy Exum is a solid player, but what's the play here?

Agree.
Exum is a good back-up PG who can't play an entire NBA season... Almost useless in our situation.

I don't know. I know Exum's history, but is this different? Are we labelling him an injury risk because of sprained wrist and broken finger? I don't know the answer to that. Is he better than Chris Paul or Lonzo when healthy? Maybe. Do the Mavs think most of the players they are targeting may not be available? Does signing Exum allow them to do something else we haven't considered?
What if they dumped a contract, signed Exum and did nothing else?
Inquiring minds.

Exum is an nba player. Probably a rotation player for 10 or more teams. The issue is when he falls, down every time it looks like he is injured and out for the year. His body may not be built for nba play.
Mavs need to throw bodies at the guard spots. Exum should definitely be a candidate. Just not sure if he is anything more than a third point due to his injury concerns. In short games segments he can way outperform a deep bench guy.
I also think a two way guard is needed. I sort of liked Gortman. He is going to need a ton more development though.

Locked on Mavs was talking Herb Jones trades and I had a variation of something they proposed. Would ya?:
Mavs get Herb Jones and #7
NO PElicans get Lively, Christie and OMax

If it was anybody else but the current MBT, I'd dismiss it as a fever dream with a mushroom assist.

There is no universe where I give up Lively and Christie for Herb Jones and #7.
I'm giving up a potential all-star in Lively and a solid rotation player in Christie for a good defensive wing coming off serious surgery and a complete unknown player at #7. How are we getting better?
The Herb Jones rumor is weird to begin with. You wouldn't add another wing on this team unless maybe you trade PJ. But PJ's offensive stats are better than Herb Jones, so it's a bit of a wash. I don't like that trade even if it were one-for-one.

Yep, I am going down with the ship with Lively. I think he is a winning player and is the type of guy you want more of, not less. Of course, he may be injury prone and it may bite you. Jones may also be the better player. Although, the fit with him would still be odd. I just think Lively is not a player you trade. I think he has the skill and leadership to be on the floor at the end of a championship series.

Tre Johnson & Kon Knueppel as 3 point specialist on the wings, Jakucionis as a big PG
This is a bit of win now while build for later deal, I would still not do it tbh, unless we feel there is a sure thing at 7

There should be no mystery. The Mavs like Exum as a player, and he likes the Mavs. They have very limited spending choices due to NBA economics, but they have a CBA window to sign him if they can agree on a number that works for both of them, and the freedom to do so.
When healthy, he's a real plus because he gives good minutes at either PG or SG with efficient shooting, and he defends well. He has size. If we knew he would be healthy all year, he would be a great help, and near the top of the various ideas we've talked about imo.
The injuries have been an issue, of course. It's hard to trust the Mavs under NTI on having the proper read on those, but that's an issue for them to weigh.
