MAVS NEWS:
@TheSteinLine
A firm treatment course and projected recovery timetable have still yet to be announced by the Mavericks ... but there has been tangible optimism in Dallas this week that Anthony Davis (adductor strain) can avoid the surgical route.

One source briefed on Anthony Davis' recovery tells @TheSteinLine that no specific recovery timetable has yet been established beyond the determination that the Mavericks and Davis "will be cautious" in pinpointing a return date.

P.J. Washington will be sidelined for the Dallas Mavericks' final two games before the NBA All-Star Break due to his right ankle sprain.

Jason Kidd expressed optimism that Washington could play early after the break.

Ejected Mavs fans and Cuban speak on controversy.

Pretty lame response by Cuban.  Fans have done far worse and booing during any portion of the game is far from worthy of being kicked out. This sends a piss poor message to fans that we expect your money and unquestioned loyalty regardless of what we do as a team.

Jason Kidd said he has contacted all three of the players that the Mavs traded to the Lakers.

He said he texted with Luka Doncic and Markieff Morris and spoke on the phone with Maxi Kleber.

I've tired of Cuban.  He cashed out, made his money, turned the team over to a rich lady with worldwide gambling interests and she, in turn, turned the team over to her goofy, round-faced son-in-law.  Cuban has forgotten what it's like to be a loud, vocal Mavs fan.  For supposedly sharp business folk, both the 77% majority owner and the 23% minority owner are rapidly diminishing the actual value of this franchise with their unskilled public relations.

the moves Nico made recently make it hard for people not to believe the team's goal is tanking rather than competing. we are a win-now team and apparently this season is just a preparation stage imho.

It was 30/9/4 on 18 shots.  Everyone tells me that trade was about easier salary to trade. If that is true, why are we giving up a 24 year old RFA that can put up those numbers, and a high second round pick just to get 9 mil of salary filler?  Seems like if that was the goal we should have had an asset coming back, not the other way around.

Not to mention the player we got was hurt.  Nico is an idiot.

I just think the Mavs did not want Grimes on a higher salary than 13.3mil a year. They gave him a similar offer to what they gave Josh Green and he turned it down.

My thing is, there are barely any teams this summer with cap space to sign Grimes. Were they really that afraid of some big offer?

Or did they truly just not like the fit? If the latter, it makes me not like Nico even more.

Christie is the real deal. if he joined us a bit earlier he would be a candidate for sixth man of the year. and his consistency is amazing for a 21 yr old.

finance always makes a higher priority in Nico's mind than basketball and whatever else. I'm not gonna call him an idiot, he might be a good businessman elsewhere but as a GM of a basketball team he's horrible.

I think you’re misremembering SH. I think they offered Grimes a shade under 9m to start and Green got closer to 13m MLE.

You are 100% right. They gave him an extension like Naji’s contract, not Green. My bad!

What is interesting is that Martin is on that same Naji type contract, which means the Mavs have a budget for the role they wanted Grimes, and now Martin, to play.

AD was just the salary match in the trade.  Nico just wanted Christie.  Smile
