Windhorst] Kevin Durant's Likely Deadline Options are Heat Trade or Staying with Suns

Despite a flurry of reporting that teams around the NBA are checking in with the Phoenix Suns regarding a potential Kevin Durant trade, it appears his options have been whittled down to two possibilities, as ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on Wednesday's NBA Today—staying with the Suns or being traded to the Miami Heat in exchange for Jimmy Buler.
"If I had to guess right now—admitting that things are changing—I would say that he either stays in Phoenix or he's on the Miami Heat by tomorrow afternoon," Windhorst noted.

There is no deadline, Nico ended the NBA Saturday night.

Truth is Kevin Durant is wise to not want to return to Golden State. Steph and Draymond are on the decline. Their young players show little promise. They have limited assets. It’s over for the Warriors.

The glaring weakness is 3point shooting. But everything else looks pretty good. Salary at $10m probably too high, but might re-sign next year at a lower price.

Fits the profile.

Ooooooof

Forgot he’s expiring, which means I doubt he’s a target given this front office propensity for targeting cost controlled guys.

But I still would like him.

@esidery
If Kevin Durant didn’t say no to the Warriors, the three-team trade including the Suns and Heat likely would’ve gone through, per @Gambo987
.

Phoenix was set to receive Jimmy Butler and “a lot” of other assets, thanks to Golden State doing whatever it takes to make it happen.

Stein] The Warriors have now shifted their trade focus to acquiring Jimmy Butler, The Stein Line has learned, after abandoning the pursuit of Kevin Durant. Durant's strong reservations about a Warriors return sent them in a new direction.
Can kd opt out in offseason?

I think its going to be really tough for a PG who does all of their scoring at the rim when we have two centers out there.  Seems like shooting may be even higher proiroty now than it was (so of course we traded away one of our best shooters).

As it relates to Dallas. I get it. But not everywhere.
I think I found a way for the KD trade to work. The Mavs have to do a 1 for 1 trade with Portland of Martin for Reath, probably costing a pick swap for upping their tax bill. Then the names we all know have to be outgoing in a KD trade.

Depth Chart:

Kyrie | Exum | Hardy
Christie | Dinwiddie | Burks
KD | Omax | Edwards*
AD | Jovic | Love
Lively | Reath | Powell

*Two-way

What I really love is the simplicity of this.

I do hope that GSW has to shift their focus from Butler to Vucevic, a couple Klutch players across those teams that we can get in on if they need help facilitating.

Lol…that’s a long way away from a buyout.
