#Mavs guard Klay Thompson and Dereck Lively II establishing chemistry after today’s practice. Lively wanted clarification on how Thompson wanted the ball in a DHO.

Luka Dončič was a full participant in practice and Jason Kidd said he did “really, really well.” However, Dončič “most likely” will not play against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The list is meaningless but I think you could say one of the keys to the season is for Lively to move up some and PJ to get on the list.  Mavs have good depth.  If you have two stars and two additional top 100 players the rest of the depth works well.

Lively was 56 on ESPN's list.

Lively is not even in Bill Simmons top 75 trade value list, which is a joke.

I believe that was from February.    It will be interesting if he makes it.  He was pretty dismissive of Lively early in the season.  He seemed to change his opinion after the playoffs.

The Dallas Mavericks and TEGNA announced eight more stations will join six TEGNA-owned ones to broadcast all games not aired nationally. This free over-the-air coverage will reach nearly 14 million people in Texas, starting with the Oct. 26 game against the Phoenix Suns.

Mavericks announce further broadcast details, including which providers will carry games

https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/maveri...announced/

Quote:The Mavericks told The Dallas Morning News that another key puzzle piece for viewers — a streaming app — will be announced as soon as early next week.

As announced on Sept. 6, WFAA-TV (Channel 8) and its parent-company, TEGNA, have a multi-year agreement to broadcast most Mavericks games — at least 70 this season — ending four decades of games airing regionally on Bally Sports Southwest and its previous iterations.
Quote:All 70-or-more games that are not scheduled to exclusively air nationally will broadcast over the air locally on TEGNA’s KFAA (Channel 29), formerly known as KMPX, a Spanish-content station.

Beginning Sunday, Channel 29 will launch new programming. Of the 70 or more games that will air on Channel 29 and 13 stations around Texas and Shreveport, La., at least 15 of the games will simulcast on WFAA (Channel 8).

For weeks, local fans have wondered whether their cable, satellite or streaming service will carry the new Channel 29. The Mavericks say Channel 29 will be available through these providers:
AT&T U-verse TV; Charter Spectrum; DIRECTV; DISH; Frontier Fiber Keller; Fubo; GEUS; Grande Communications; OneSource Communications; and Optimum.
Quote:Fans who do not subscribe to any of those providers can still access Channel 29 with the use of a digital antenna, a one-time purchase that typically costs $25 to $55.

Fans’ remaining option will be the Mavericks’ soon-to-be-announced streaming service/app. It’s unclear whether the app will be similar to the free Victory+ app launched this season by the Dallas Stars.

There should be a streaming service that is coming, much like what the Dallas Stars just announced earlier this year.

Worse comes to worst, you can pickup a $20 digital tv antenna from Best Buy and put it next to the TV and you now have access to every non-nationally televised Mav game.

I bought the bullet and subscribed to the NBA League Pass.  If you do that, I suggest you do it through nba.com and not youtube.tv.  For the life of me I couldn't get the nba app to see my youtube.tv NBA subscription.

Unless you're outside the Dallas blackout area, League Pass doesn't really work.

I've used a VPN though and it's worked pretty reliably. I love league pass because it has a recorded game basically instantly as long as its not an national broadcasted one.

Now that the games will be free, I just bought a digital antenna and going to try that method.

Will still keep league pass though since I like to watch as many games as possible.

Jason Kidd on the importance of tonight’s game for those fighting for a roster spot:

“The 15 roster spots that we have are all taken. So now it comes down to the two-ways, and then if you look at it a little deeper, it becomes the E10 signees that you can have for your G League team. There is a lot at stake for those guys…”

Sounds like the 15-man roster is locked up, but there could be some movement among the two-ways.

“He was terrible in Summer League…For what he’s put in, the time that he’s put in, he’s worked extremely hard. Just shows that you can fail and fall, as long as you have a group that believes in you and you believe in yourself, and you’re gonna do the work, good things will happen…”

“We hope they’re with the Legends as we go forward and we’re gonna continue to work with them and try to develop them so that they can reach their goal, and that’s to play in the NBA.”

Also talks about the “massive jump” that Jamarion Sharp has taken from summer to now.

Talked about Brandon Williams’ ability

Yeah, looks like I'll be using alternative streaming sites like last year, unless the Mavs do provide their own streaming option.  I know antenna is an option, but I'm not going to set one up just for this sole purpose.

I would not have said terrible.  He wasn’t very good in summer league but he had some moments.  Maybe I was looking at something else though.

Even last night though he looks like he belongs.  Now he was playing against most guys who won’t be seeing the floor in a game this year but it looks like he has definitely improved.  It will be interesting to see if he gets a two way.

Shape won’t get a two way but he has also improved.  Hopefully they communicate to him that if he doesn’t. Get a two way he sticks around with the g league team in a feeder program to an eventual two way next year.  He needs a ton of work but he has one elite skill already.  Really surprised college coaches couldn’t get more production out of him.

Haha. I was worried I was imagining things. He was one of the very few bright spots. 11/3/4 in 21 minutes, shooting 46/50/83. Basically enough to be the SL MVP of that atrocious Mavs team.

Good to see Kidd is paying attention. Big Grin

With AJ Lawson waived, the Mavericks have an open two-way spot. Good chance that gets filled with Jazian Gortman, who had a very strong training camp and preseason.

Hopefully that means Gortman will be back. I was really impressed by his play and the depth at PG/SG isn’t great. All you have to do is beat out Hardy / Dinwiddie and you’re looking at a solid path to some
minutes here and there.
