AROUND the NBA:
(10-01-2024, 04:11 PM)DallasMaverick Wrote: Super negative contract.

I was referring to the summer both he and THJ were FAs, 2021.  Ball got $80mill/4years, THJ got $75mill/4years.

IF.....  we signed Zo over THJ and he didn't get injured, Luka/JB/Ball/Maxi/KP would have been a nice lineup.

So, despite last year's results, DAL is still sorta sneaking under the radar?

Works for helping get that chip on one's shoulder for lack of recognition.

In my, low information, opinion, both NYKs and MIN will have issues with integration of new players into their preferred play style. Not sure KAT is up to 82 games of banging inside, I think Gobert freed him up to be more diverse. IMO, Randal and Ant are going to have difficulty sharing. It's Ant's team but Randal is playing for a next contract.

Not sold that DEN still has enough, despite their core. Think MEM may be a sleeper team ready to get back in the WCF hunt.

Big opp for Josh Green this year. I said several times I thought he role here the last few years was either the wrong role for him or he just wasn't ready for that role yet.

He should get more opportunities in Charlotte, but he needs to find ways to be a productive role player. It should be a good spot for him but at the same time he could be a posiiton the team looks to upgrade if he doesn't take the bull by the horns. My expectation is he is eventually a bench piece. How important of a bench piece is TBD.

The only thing DET is competing for is next summer's #1 pick, so this may be part of the season highlight reel.

He had some nice moments in their preseason game last night. Same infectious hustle we're all used to seeing. Not sure if Green can take another step in Charlotte but who he is today is still someone I'll miss having on the Mavs.

Those are some pretty great news for Green that he has earned the starting spot. I think he’s a good fit there. Hopefully he can take the next few steps in Charlotte. Always been easy to root for him while he was here.

Shams is joining ESPN as the successor to Woj. Was to be expected, wasn’t it?

At one time I really thought Green would develop into a very good 2 way player, but he never did. I wonder if he ever will. His offense never progressed to a good level of productivity. Not sure why.

It's hard to picture what team or role would best fit Green. Is he more likely to up his offense when surrounded with a lineup full of scorers where he has no pressure, or a lineup where scoring is sparse and he would be forced to shoot?

FWIW I think CHA is closer to the latter.

Interesting take on Charlotte. I look at that lineup and think Josh isn’t gonna hafta shoot at all.

I hope he has a nice, long, complementary career.

I hope he doesn’t become Dale Ellis!

You may  be right. I don't follow CHA closely. My cursory glance observed a pass-first PG (Ball, who scores about 20), 2 decent-scoring F's (Bridges and Miller, in the 15-17 range), and not much else in the area of producing offense, which makes me think it will be a team that is challenged on offense. But I may be missing something.
