Trade & FA 2024-25:
Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania)
Former No. 7 pick Killian Hayes has agreed to a one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Hayes will have a chance to compete for a roster spot with Nets.

Even Killian deserves a 2nd chance. I hope he's worked on his shot...he might stick this time.

Zach Lowe, Jokic and Russ and a huge warning sign for
a team once primed for a dynasty.

Mavs signed Kessler Edwards to a Two-Way-Deal and are planning to bring Morris back according to Stein. Any opinions on Edwards?

Know the name but not much about him.   He is the exact type of guy you invest in.   Melvin too.   Most won't hit but guys with their size who can defend and may be able to shoot are tough to find.

I was wondering what we would do with our remaining 2 (3?) two way spots. I was hoping we were not just going to bring Miller and Gortman to camp and maybe another random guy and let them fight it out. I am glad they targeted a player who at least has characteristics of what they are looking for. I am fine if they want Miller and Gortman to battle out for the final spot. I also hope Williams needs to show he is worth investing in for a team that is full with guards now....and Williams is about to be 26.

Edwards is more D than 3 of a 3&D Wing. He couldn't find many minutes in the Kings' rotation last season, even though Harrison Barnes was pretty darn bad. I think Barnes may have been betting the under on his own statline, lol. Anyway, Edwards might be a good backup for emergencies when/if others are injured though. I'd rather have him on a two-way this season than Melvin the Maverick, or 6'0" and under guards who will offer no practical use during the season.

Plus Kyrie already played with him in Brooklyn, so Nico hopefully got his okay to invest in him.

Even if he might not pan out, he's at least putting on pressure on OMax, because at the moment both might not be too far away from each other production-wise.

That's true. I didn't know Kessler played in Brooklyn. Either way, he at least has some NBA experience already. And the Kings fans seemed reasonably happy to have him as backup to Barnes, so having him on a two-way is good for the Mavs depth.

Talking about the Kings, saw something unrelated but funny... Robert Horry wants his buzzer-beater against the Kings to be played at his funeral.

Somewhere, Kammrath is excited. The Mavs passing on Liddell was part of what pushed him over the edge.

It’s funny, Roddy looked like he might turn into something his rookie season. Like decent rotation role player piece level or even better. He hasn’t seemed to progress at all though. So incredibly competitive keeping an NBA career.

He still could breakout, he had some good games for the Grizz before he was traded.  He got caught up in a numbers game. Memphis has a lot of young talented players. I don't know why Phx felt the need to trade him.

That was quick, Phx plans to waive EJ Liddell.

Interesting move.  I read one of the suns reported said Roddy wasn’t going to make their roster and neither would Liddell.  I guess it saved some tax money too.  I wonder what guard they are looking at?  smith Jr?  Fultz?  I think Tyus Jones is waiting on a sign and trade.   Intresting move.

Not sure Liddell is fully back after tearing his acl, but he would interest me on a two way

Anyone but Tyus Jones, as he'd actually fix some of their issues. They may be priced out of him anyways.

Fultz would also be a sneaky great get, but then they'd be relying on Fultz's health and that's never a strong bet. DSJ is probably a bit too green to be leading that team anywhere serious.

If he is ready then he does fix a lot of their issues too.

I hope they get stuck with like Nico Mannion or something.

I hear there is a real chance at landing Tyus Jones & that would be a HUGE win for the Suns. Could happen very quickly if Jones would be willing to take less money than what he could get with a couple of other teams. Suns culture, playing time and chance to win may convince him.

Which means it sounds like the Suns have a standing offer to Tyus but the hold up is him. I think he really wants some sort of payday. Not sure what place that is. I know ORL still needs a point guard.

@35sunsfan It could happen today or tomorrow if it goes down so yes of course there have been discussions

That would help them a lot. Jones is a starter quality PG.  Might not move the needle enough to increase their chances as a top 6 team in the West however.
