Quote:The Kings went hard after the Utah Jazz’s Lauri Markkanen earlier in the week, protecting Keegan Murray in the discussions but putting on the table what they believe was a substantial enough picks-based offer, team sources said. But they put a deadline to their side of the deal, needing an answer quickly considering the urgency of the dissolving market.

The Kings remain interested in trading for Kyle Kuzma after acquiring DeMar DeRozan, per @damienbarling. Sacramento can make salaries work including Kevin Huerter alongside future draft capital. Washington has been holding out for two first-round picks in Kuzma talks.

kings must also be interested in THJ I guess, according to the type of players they're targeting.

If they were really interested, they would have pulled the trigger before Detroit did. He's not a long-term player anyway, Detroit just wanted him because of his expiring deal.

Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.

Im surprised Mavs2021 hasn't made an entire essay on why the Mavs should do everything in their power to get Paul Reed for the last roster spot.
He was championing him as a value get for years now.

Paul Reed would be a great addition to our team imho. solid back up PF who can also share some minutes at 5 when either Gafford or lively sits out.

I just let you do the work for me. ![]() He´d definitely be an upgrade over Powell. He is still a value get imho.

Although you could argue in today´s NBA giving up 105 points in an elimination game is fine. Scoring 98 (despite 58 from Sabonis/Fox on 50% shooting) is more of a problem.

Thing is, their spacing is kind of destroyed now imo. Sabonis lives off of his hand-off assists to guys for a 3. DeRozan operates and hangs out by the FT line. How does Fox/Sabonis work when the guy who is guarding DeRozan sinks in? DeRozan is a great player. I am actually a fan of his and even thought he could work next to an offensive hub like Luka. But the fit in Sacramento is wonky.

FWIW, I snuck into some Philly forums and the consensus was that BBall Paul was more style than substance. Had some great moments, but they weren't too beat up seeing him walk. Given that, I can see why he's a vet min flyer. Probably has shades of C.Wood in him. I gotta watch film to see myself.

irony is they could have let him walk last summer by not matching Utah's offer sheet.

His 3 percent does not matter when he takes less than 1 a game. Very strange that Philly waived him. I would argue that PG is much more important than 3/4/5th center for this team, but he seems like a lot of value at vet min.

I was curious if the Mavs had any doubt in Exum being the primary backup if there was another move coming quickly after the trades were made official. This does not appear to be the case, so I would assume the Mavs stay patient. See how Brandon Williams does in summer league. Can he be an emergency guard on a two way? Does AJ win a spot?
I am not sure where these players are in their careers, but I assume Lowry and Dinwiddie will have better options. Money may not be too higher but they still played rotations minutes for good teams last year. Maybe not that well though. I think DSJ could still be an option. He will probably have better options as well, but he may not be have a built in role as a guaranteed backup PG though. So maybe he sees an opportunity here...especially if there was an injury. I think the Mavs are done. They’ll likely wait until after Summer League to waive Lawson and re-sign Markieff. Giving them the required 14 and apron cushion. If/when injuries happen, they’ll have some flexibility to address it during the season. Edit: Some context on when the Mavs made the final moves last year: @MavsFilmRoom Last summer, the Mavs signed Derrick Jones Jr. to a minimum contract on August 18th and re-signed Markieff Morris on September 16th. May be a while before there is any resolution on the Mavs’ their final roster spot.

Steph Curry says he wants to be a 'Warrior for Life,' but things change quickly in the NBA “I mean, I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life. It's always been my goal, and I'm saying that sitting in this chair right now, but like you said, life, and especially life in the NBA, it is a wild environment, and things change quickly.”
