The guy needs an agent. The Wizards are tanking, waive his rookie contract, when they had a gazillion other options and he agrees to come back as a two-way player. Maybe they promised him a certain amount of minutes behind Valanciunas (and Holmes) otherwise that makes no sense.

I don't think he can be our POA defender the level that DJJ was, but he's certainly a passable level defender. And what he brings on the offensive end more than makes up for his defensive deficiencies.
Passable defender is the same way we describe Luka and Kyrie. There is no data that suggests he is a plus defender and he is clearly a significant drop off from DJJ. Going with a starting lineup without a POA defender is clearly a shift in focus.

Any other team I would be really questioning all their moves, but they are the heat. I knew very little of these draft prospects, but Knecht seemed like much more like a Heat player than Ware. Ware is really talented but may be a guy who always teases. The Heat deserve the benefit of the doubt.
A no trade clause?

So Pelicans need a center. Are they just going to get one in a Brandon Ingram trade or do they have something else in mind?

List of players the Dallas Mavericks should target with the remaining MLE and vet min:
Dennis Smith Jr.
Markelle Fultz
Spencer Dinwiddie
Pat Beverley
Robert Covington
Marcus Morris
Kyle Lowry
Markieff Morris replied to this tweet and said:
@Keefmorris
Marcus Morris would be perfect!
Even though that would take what is most likely the final roster spot. Is Kieff coming back as a player? Or as a coach?
Would it be possible to get DSJ with the remaining MLE and Marcus on the vet min? I'd be down for that.

The Kings have let it be known Keegan Murray isn’t available in trade talks, per
@sam_amick on @Sactown1140
It’s unlikely Sacramento would be able to get into conversations for star-level players without the inclusion of Murray.
Will take them out of the Lauri bidding, but they probably didn't have enough any way. Murray is good and has continued upside.
I think the Kings wind up with one of the wings on the market: Kuzma, Cam Johnson, Grant, etc. If they do that with Huerter, barnes and a first I think they will have a real nice offseason. Not a true contender but a good team.

The Mavs have 4.7M to work with below the apron if they waive Lawson. Technically you could sign 2 Vet Min players and remain $526,220 below the Apron but F Gump has pointed out that the Mavs will likely leave 1M or more of cushion. So to answer your question, it seems unlikely.

Free agent F Joe Ingles has agreed on a one-year deal to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell ESPN. Ingles reunites with his old Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley Jr.

Things have been eerily quiet on the Ingram trade front.
What teams need a wing that could part with their center?
Could Orlando be interested in a WCJr trade package?

As far as I know the Pelicans are looking for a stretch five next to Zion. My first thought was Towns but I don't think anyone is touching his contract.

I'll say this as the Vice President of the Josh Green Fan Club: If Quentin Grimes isn't what I think he'll be, it's going to hit me a lot harder than it is now.
I would have loved for him to go to the Warriors. A real chance to show what he's capable of in that type of offense would have been great to see. I hate that he went to the Hornets but I'm a bigger Mavs fan than a Josh Green fan and it was time for both to move on.

Whoa...I lost track of him since he left the Jazz. How much has he fallen off? If he can still play, I like this for them a LOT.

Ayton or Capella. Probably Capella.

Charlotte might be the best thing that ever happened to him. He'll play there.

He played here. I just wanted him to do more than stand in the corner.

Not right now
They should go into the season and play it out until the trade deadline. If perimeter defense is a problem, strike then.

I can't really see Grimes doing a Josh Green imitation. Grimes seems more consistently aggressive.
Agree that Charlotte is a good spot. Not as much pressure to perform a certain way.

Tim Legler on the Dallas Mavericks on today’s @ALLCITY_NBA podcast. (Quotes no clip)
He ranked the Mavericks 2nd in the West for the regular season behind the Thunder as things stand now.
“This is a team that I like more than I did last year and they went to the NBA Finals.”
“We’re going to find out a lot about Luka Dončić at the start of the year. The things he was called out for at the end of the season, how does he look at the beginning of the year.”
“I think this is a good shot coming up this year for Luka to get his first MVP”

This is the most glowing take on the Mavs’ off-season yet. Gotta say, like 99% of the people I’ve seen analyze what they’re doing has been effusively positive. Everyone LOVES Marshall, too.
