Trade & FA 2024-25:
Feeling a little more 2011 vibes. Learned that finals success will not happen if the opponent can just mob the star because there is nobody else to carry the load.

Surround the star with dependable shooters who willingly participate in solid team defense. Still have the star player for gravityi, but anyone one of several will have the ability to carry the team for stretches in any particular game, if needed.

We could theoretically do that yes. The BAE is about 4.7mil. The Mavs would have 4.3 mil left available roughly depending on what Klay's starting salary.

The 4 out with our 5 at the high post was already effective with Luka and Kai's playmaking ability but now with effective and reliable shooters.

I don't think so. Not exactly the same. I think you guys are underestimating Klay. He's not a stand in the corner guy.

Sure. I just mean that Klay is replacing DJJ in the starting lineup.

We have to be hard capped because we are acquiring a player from a SnT. That action hard caps you at the 178.2 apron.

Further, we used the Full (not tax) MLE, again that hard caps you at the 1st apron.

I think he just means minutes-wise.

Where is FGump? Do we still have money to spend?

There has been communication between the Lakers and DeMar DeRozan's agent, per @ChrisBHaynes

“It will either take a one-year deal or a sign-and-trade where you can get a three-year deal going.”

Klay wore #1 in college and Hardy could move to old #3.

And if Fudge is still on the team, he can also move back to his previous #17.

Interesting side note =P

Thompson and Lawrence met with Mavericks GM Nico Harrison and VP Michael Finley at the Bottle Inn in Hermosa Beach, Calif., on Sunday night to dig into the details of a Thompson-Mavericks partnership, sources said.

Can you guys imagine how much easier and more enjoyable it would be to sit down and talk with Nico and Fin than MC? I don't hate Mark, but he's always been an awkward dude.

Agree, but Kidd might be a stand in the corner coach.

I think Klay will be other places besides the corner, but I don't know if they're about to install some elaborate off-ball screening system for him. I hope they do a little of that, don't get me wrong!

Maybe not GS motion but Klay knows how to cut to the basket and make winning plays and can probably finish as well.

Just makes sense. We always need to look for moves to make the West better.

Would Orlando do Fultz (UFA) + Bitadze (UFA) for Kleber?

The arrival of Klay Thompson

Dallas hard capped themselves at the first apron when they signed Naji Marshall. By sending out Josh Green for Thompson, the Mavericks remain below.

To the right is what the Mavs currently have available to them. $4.4M of the MLE left or they can waive Lawson and get the $4.8M BAE. I think it’s safe to assume Morris will be back on a minimum deal and being only 3M short of the first apron, probably safe to assume the likeliest path is waive Lawson and Sign a VetMin PG and re-sign Morris with VetMin and be done.

Update on Thompson's Mavs contract: Thompson will do a straight three-year deal without a player option, sources tell ESPN.

So for everyone saying Klay can't move and Klay isn't a good defender anymore...This is highlights of all of it from just this last season.

I watch this guy all the time out here in the bay area. He is still a baller.

Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.
