Trade & FA 2024-25:

Seriously, the Mavs hopes on acquiring Klay may depend on the whether the Lakers value DeRozan and choose that path.

Dan has already said he'd just pencil Green into the starting lineup and go to war with what's already here. They can avoid the tax if they go that route, right, or am I missing something?

Are there any other dark horse additions that could be had for Green and/or Kleber we should discuss?

I agree the Mavs could/should be done with the roster as is, if they strike out on Klay. I disagree that Green would start. Pretty clear that would be Naji or Grimes to me. As far as who could be had for Green and/or Kleber. A name that has been mentioned plenty here and a known Mavs target: Thybulle.

They wanted him to start last year. Sending out Maxi makes Naji your backup 4 and Thybulle the starting 3. Sending out Green gives Hardy a bigger role (kinda).

Meet in person? Did Nico not have important things to do, like attend the Polk High Football Team re-union party?

LMFAO, can these people milk this anymore than they already are?

Media: Mavs ahead in getting Klay!
Still media: Mavs are still way ahead in the Thompson sweepstakes!
Still media: Lakers trying to close the gap on that big lead!

I truly hope nobody with a brain is being fooled at this point.  I'll eat crow if he signs here, but come on...

Overheard conversation between Finley and Nico on the trip:

"...so then - get this - he makes a damn cartoon to try to convince him to sign with Dallas!  I'm telling you, you missed some crazy shit man..."

We’re all just over here waiting around for Deron Williams to make his decision
Honestly, I don't want the Mavs to fall on their faces with yet ANOTHER free agent, but...

...isn't not adding Thompson the sensible thing, everything considered? I think he'd be better here than some, but I also like that they're a young team with only good contracts at the moment.

I'm at a point where I almost don't care about Klay. What I really care about is getting hosed in yet one more Free Agency... and by the Lakers no less.
- Rick Brunson orchestrates his son's exit to the Knicks (with a HUGE assist from previous FO incompetence)

- Hardaway Sr. breaks THJ by never shutting up and making the last few months of his Maverick career a mess

If you're scared of the Mavs record of getting daddy balled the last couple of years, don't check Mychal Thompson's social media feed. He's chatting up Laker fans left and right trying to speak Klayker into existence.

for sure doesn't feel like a desperate 2013ish era scenario

if nothing else keep Green and Maxi around and see if a better deal pops up before the trade deadline. Maybe Portland sucks again (they will) and they finally bite the bullet on a Grant dump

Always the bridesmaid...

But they are so good at deadline deals that I'm not sure it matters anyway.

And there are plenty of "just get a shooter" guys available like Trent or Hield if they want.
Nico Harrison and Michael Finley going from boat to boat in the Pacific Ocean trying to find Klay Thompson. Meanwhile, he spent the night with Lebron James drinking wine.

Klay has a sleep-over at DeAndre Jordan's house.

Don’t care.  Be a man and decide already.   We can move on and still get pieces.
@TimMaxwell22
If the Lakers are in talks with the Blazers to send two picks for Jerami Grant, I'm confident the Kings are having very similar, hopefully productive conversations with Portland.

If the Lakers get Jerami Grant and the Mavs get Klay Thompson (after losing DJJ) I will feel very, very put out.

You would trade 2 firsts for Jerami Grant vs. Klay for Josh Green straight up?

On top of Grants massive deal vs Klay on a 4/72 deal?
