Trade & FA 2024-25:

WELL DONE!

Probably the happiest I have ever seen you on this board in all the years.

Note that (with 5% raises) this implies a starting salary of $16.2mm. That's exactly the TPE we got from the THJ trade.

When Nico gets Klay at 17.5 AAV when someone like Harris gets 26m… sheesh.

Today just got a lot more interesting.

There are Thompson deals I’d like, and versions I wouldn’t.

But if they miss out on him (which I find less likely now - this Harris news is likely a harbinger of what’s to come), I’m excited to see what the next plan will be.

Totally, but I believe we’re looking at a 3-year deal, not a 4.

Will that third year be guaranteed? What will the GS sign and trade toll be? Details matter.

Well, there being some overlap with Grimes is not a good reason to pass on Melton even now. There will be enough minutes for both.

If Kyrie is sitting or injured, I can also see Grimes and Melton playing together, since Melton can act as PG... and it could be a really good defensive lineup.

- Melton, Grimes, Luka, PJW, Lively/Gafford

Did you read what he wrote before you replied? He agrees with you!

I'm just building upon what he said, for Nico. Tongue
One thing that’s been forgotten, because of the playoff run, is that there was a time not too long ago that we wanted Exum to start/close for this team. Adding Klay and losing DJJ is a hit to the defense in the starting lineup but I think they also flip Lively and Gafford which offsets some of it.

Then you have plenty of defensive guys to stagger minutes: Exum, Naji, Grimes, PJ, (maybe Maxi).

I need this place to be way more turnt up right now. Maybe people don’t get what just happened…the news that Tobias Harris just signed in Detroit means that HE WON’T BE A MAVERICK!

Hartenstein's deal. Tell me it isn't always about the $$

Wow. Hartenstein is such a perfect fit for OKC. They got so much better with him and Caruso. They got everything they needed.

Regarding Thompson/LAL…to me, the longer we go without a decision, the more I feel like he’s giving the Lakers a chance to dump more salary so that they can bump their offer up to where the Dallas offer is.

If that’s true (IF), does that affect the Mavs’ confidence in him being the right fit?

I honestly think if the money were the same, he'd have to want to stay in Cali? He's been there forever.

Perfect big for them. Good enough to move the needle, but not so good that they can’t bench him and go with Chet at the 5 down the stretch of most games. In fact, I doubt he’ll even start. Match made in heaven.

Give him 2 hr deadline say yes.  If nothing move on.  Get someone else.   Be an Alpha.  We wait for no one!!!

Right, I agree.

Do we think those are ideal circumstances, knowing that he’s somewhere right now trying to talk himself into taking the MLE to stay on the West Coast?
