Trade & FA 2024-25:
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I’ve always wondered if the Mavs would revisit Thybulle this offseason.

Would anyone be interested in pursuing him if Klay and DJJ don’t work out?

We had Thybulle week a while ago. You missed it. Some people are into that idea, yes.

Doesn’t seem like he is available.

I'm okay with the DJJ replacement.
What I'm not okay is signing KT.

Kyrie isn't a liability on D, but still gets exploited.
Luka sometimes tries on D.
And now KT? Maybe he isn't as bad as Luka or THJ, but he isn't good either.

That's 3 guys on your starting lineup who's going be targeted.
Two guys is enough.
If the agent switch was a problem, do we have a Klutch problem?

What about Hardy?

Killer is feisty this evening!

Maybe the plan is if they strike out on Klay in the next 12 hours or so they do a SnT for Naji and bring back DJJ and all is well in the world.

I think Marshall is the Jones replacement, and honestly, not the end of the world, although disappointing.

I just can’t stop picturing Tobias Harris starting for the Mavericks next year, and it’s really messing with my chi.

Sorry if that’s making me a little cranky, everyone.

Mavs got an absolute dawg. Naji straight up went for the kill on this

If Klay for Green doesn't work out, here's another possibility.

1 Green for Thybulle
2 DJJ signs for what's left if he wants it (after Lawson is waived) - which would be almost the exact same money as they gave Naji.

The result looks like this

C - Gafford, Lively, Powell
PF - PJW, Maxi, Omax
SF - DJJ, Naji, Thybulle
SG - Kyrie, Grimes, Hardy
PG - Luka, Exum

Splitting the minutes would be hard. Way too many bodies. But lots of potential and defenders.

Funny hypothetical scenario:
Dallas works out a S&T with Marshall and New Orleans; (moves Powell)
Dallas works out a S&T with GSW for Klay (moves Green)
July 15th rolls around, DJJ is still unsigned with Dallas sitting there with the $5.2 million TAX MLE

I know, but Nico can, cuz he's our man!

Don’t need jones any more.  No room for him.  Y’all just want a team of wings???   Get me spencer back and a vet pf/c on minimum deal.

Safe to assume you think the starting 3 is not currently on the roster and you think the options at this point are in order of likelihood: Harris, Klay, DJJ?

I for one don’t want Harris starting in any way shape or form. As the backup 4 and Maxi replacement? I could get talked into it. But that hypothetical = less than a 0% chance.

I’ll join you with pitchforks if T. Harris is our starting forward next year!

Yes, and I don’t think Jones would be third on the list at this point.

I think there are real merits to Tobias Harris as an idea.

But he isn't my first or second choice.

But over a guy like Kuzma? Yeah, give me Harris.

I would rather have Kuzma, and you know how hard it is for me to type that. That’s how little I think of Tobias Harris.

How do I ignore someone?

I disagree...
Maxi as the 3rd C and 5 out 5 is good.
Maxi playing more that 8-10 mpg at the 4 BAD
Jones playing the 4 as a POA defender so that Luka can guard the least threatening player: Good
As much as it is a possibility I am opposed to Maxi + vet min manning the 4 as it is not a recipe for success (unless you steal a solid PF with that minimum slot - and another Morris does not qualify).

So does the agent change mean that literally no team in the NBA can negotiate with DJJ for 15 days?

WTH would he do that if that's the case?

It’s only like seven days from now, but still… Pretty dumb thing to do last minute, in my opinion.

It already cost him a spot with the Mavericks, and I really hope it doesn’t cost him some money. If he gets an MLE offer, it’s going to be from like the very last girl at the bar.

Or, hell… Maybe my read is totally wrong and he’s got like a KCP level contract waiting for him somewhere. I really, really doubt that though.
