Trade & FA 2024-25:
Well I was hardly the biggest fan of getting Klay Thompson but if the alternative is Tobias Harris I'll become the biggest Klay fanboy in the universe

Kind of fun if the Lakers just whiff on every target.

So they waived their rookie center from last season, who averaged like 9 PPG in 15 minutes to sign Jonas, who I like. Make it make any sense. Cry Cry

With the TJH trade, if they don't want to leave any cushion, they are only $14,370,699 below the Apron. With a cushion left, they have about 13.4 to offer.

"They can use the full TPE and then make another move to create space under the hard cap." -- Nope, not in that order. They would have to open apron room first.

They actually have a lot of flexibility as long as they stay under the Apron, which they have to do anyhow if they trade for Klay -- in any particular trade they can do a 200% match. It's just a matter of figuring out what to do, then doing it in the right order, and perhaps combining 2 or 3 trades into one deal to join the TPE's all into one.

We are not understanding each other.

Nothing becomes official till at least 6th of July. Even if something is announced today, it is not official yet. We can hear Thompson deal (unofficially) announced today for 16 mil, but Mavs would still need to take care of other business before they start making things official on 6th of July (or later).

The order of business on 6th of July is what matters. And the cap situation at that time.

Jonas to the east is good for us. Always bringing those dirty moves to the court

Plus Lebron loses one of his MLE targets to the Wizards! Lol

Almost ANY decent player heading to the East from the west is good, and it has been a major theme, so far.

Intereting. Rumors were they may try to get Mitchell Robinson for air. Makes me think Hartenstein is probably gone from NY probably
Morey is really amazing. Good luck in Philly though. Those are tough fans. Also, good chance Morey is looking to trade him again in 2 years. It is the Morey way.

I like this move because it all but solidifies CP3 will never win a ring.

And of course a bunch of signings happen...

People speak about lack of Phoenix bench. Philly literally doesn't have a path to more than PG, another 14 mil in cap space and the exception they used on Drummond. Only Embiid and Maxey under contract.

OKC Thunder traded Paul George to Clippers for SGA, 5 first-round picks (which included Jalen Williams) & 2 first-round pick swaps.

OKC still has 2 first-round picks & 1 first-round pick swap remaining in the deal.

Paul George left Clippers, LA got nothing in return.

Eh, true. I guess the first 2 hours of free agency warped my perception.

The Warriors want to help Klay Thompson get paid more than the MLE, per @ShamsCharania

Shams also stated the Mavs are 1/3 strong suitors.

Maybe Mavs strike out. Or maybe there targets are wrong. Although it feels like they are a real professional organization now. As cool and hip we hoped Cuban would be when he bought the team, he just couldn’t compete against the big boys. He came off being fake buddy buddy and wanting the players to like him. I think players could smell him a mile away.

Plus him, Donnie ( who probably showed up in a t shirt and boots) and Carlisle (great coach but odd personality) was a group i had no confidence in closing.

The Bulls offered Zach LaVine to the Warriors for Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul, per @ChrisBHaynes.

Golden State declined, which again says a lot about LaVine’s overall value league-wide right now.

You are right. I did not follow what you are saying, and said that way, I agree with it.

But you are not understanding me either. The "16.19M TPE" is not really a defining number anyhow at any time as to what the Mavs can pay someone - because it is the product of a trade that has not happened (and may not happen like that anyhow), and a TPE does not define what the Mavs can or can't pay a player (the Apron room is what defines that).
