Wiggins is the only contract in the league i could see netting a FRP to a team with cap space……This is a rare thing. There needs to be motivation both ways
Also let’s not forget the salary floor. The bad teams will want to accumulate expiring contracts each year so they have space each year.
I think we’re still on track for Hardaway to be moved in the 2nd round today for a pick that we like. Washington, Charlotte, Detroit all have picks today. We have future 2nds to play with as needed
Adding to the youth movement and also re-signing DJJ and also setting ourselves up for future moves all makes sense

Those stats also kind of avoid Grimes best asset and that is his POA defense.
In 1 video he contains Morant, Mitchell, Maxey, Trae, and Mikal Bridges.
Is he as good as Thybulle? Not even close. But he's better than Nwora and Hardy. Also... If Hardy's newfound playmaking chops are real, why can't we keep both??
I like him. Quick, hard-working, long defender. But don’t kid yourselves. Half of those were fouls in a Dallas uni. Same with Grant. Put him in Mavs blue, and he no longer gets top-banana whistles.

This take makes perfect sense to me. Don’t know if it’s right. But agree that it should be right. Tim’s contract should have real value at the February deadline. Picking it up now for nothing seems like a smart move.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s value in free agency is expected to reach near $25 million annually.
The Sixers and Magic loom as serious contenders to offer Caldwell-Pope a short-term deal at a large salary.
KCP will soon decline his $15.4 million player option with the Nuggets.

The Chicago Bulls are looking to move Nikola Vucevic, per @HPbasketball
“The Bulls are known to be looking to move Nikola Vucevic, along with the never-ending Zach LaVine saga. The Caruso trade both helps and hurts those efforts because Caruso's contract was a quality lubricant for teams willing to take on those contracts, which now isn't available.”

Nice low cost gamble for Detroit. Get a pretty high second rounder that THJ can mentor . I was never a big fan of Moore at Duke but it is a cheap look see. Maybe Detroit are collecting Jrs?

Not sure who will take him. He sort of fell off last year. Not sure he is a starter any longer for a good/decent team.

Why is it we're going all in on another guard? We need a POA defender with SF/PF length, not SG. How is Grimes better than Green defensively? Advanced stats wise, he's not. Why chase the shinny object?
Length of...
Jrue 6'7"
Grimes 6'8"
Dort 6'8"
Smart 6'9"
Hardy 6'9"
Green 6'10"
PG13 6'11"
Herb Jones 7'
Murphy III 7'
Jaden McDaniels 7'
Eason 7'2"
OG 7'2"
Kawhi 7'3"
Unless Grimes plays with physical abandon like Dort, Jrue, or Smart, I just don't see his being in the discussion of top defender. He just doesn't have the length and has to rely on jock-down defense, which he didn't display last year.
Players we should be targeting to start at the 3...
1. Tari Eason
2. Murphy III
3. H.Jones
By “length” you mean wingspan, right? Cause that quite literally is width. Language is so weird.

I would love to be a fly in the wall in Mavs draft hq today. I am sure moving THJ to be able to resign DJJ is still priorty 1.
I think they intended to keep their 25 or 26 first but with the changes yesterday DFS, Grant and/or Kuzma may be on the market and the prices may not be outrageous. Giving up a first for DFS is probably not in the cards. Grant has a rich contract and most here won't want to touch Kuzma. But all three players would be upgrade here....if they could also keep DJJ. A lot of moving parts.

Hoping we only have to use the 2nd rounders to dump THJ
using the 2025 1st just to re-sign DJJ would suck so much
At that point I'd hope we can find a trade for a clear SF starter

Ya, at least DFS, Grant, and Kuzma are the correct size and position. We just need DFS-like defensive with more offense.
Have I mentioned Tari Eason?

I know he was a board favorite when he was here because he's a hustle guy, but I don't see DFS being much of an upgrade in any respect. .

DFS is definitely more valued in Dallas than anywhere else. How much of a DJJ upgrade would he be? I don't think much at all.

I don't see DFS as being a guy best suited to chase around wings. I think for our team he is a backup PF type. He can guard wings but I don't think he can do what DJJ does on defense.

Love DFS, BUT I think at this point he would be more of a DJJ replacement option than a missing piece...
Hate to say this, but hustle guys who depend a LOT on athleticism are likely to have a steep cliff to fall from when they are on the wrong side of 30.
