Trade & FA 2024-25:

we don't have the assets to move a 1st rounder for a bench guy
I view Cam as a starting caliber player, but out of respect for what PJ did this year I can't bump him to the bench just yet. They would both get big minutes either way, and I think you could play them together in some lineups.

Here's a list of guards available for that number most likely:

Dinwiddie
CP3 if he gets waived
Monte Morris
Kyle Lowry
Pat Bev
DSJ
Patty Mills
Westbrook

Not a lot of names that stand out. As much as I dislike going back to the guy who dissed you, Dinwiddie would be a value get. DSJ really interests me as he's remade himself into a premier perimeter defender. Lowry is also interesting.

We still have Exum on the roster too as a means of creation. Grimes has flashed some ability to create as well.

pat Bev would be a nice addition too. watched some games between Indy and Milwaukee in the first round and Bev played great on both ends, solid D and decent 3 and he also attacked the rim every now and then. poor man's Jrue imho.

The Nets remain active in trade conversations leading into the draft, per @wojespn.

Brooklyn could still gather more assets before the first round concludes to begin their full-scale rebuilding efforts.

DJJ fits us well this season and a potential SF replacement/upgrade, no matter DJJ stays or not, should share the same type of attributes like D, speed, shooting range and athleticism. Cam Johnson is not the guy we need most and would probably cost too much. DFS on the other hand is a more realistic target, still not sure if an expiring trash will be enough to get him though, add a second round if necessary but not a first tbh.

In a two year period, the Nets have gone from an odds-on favorite to win it all to a franchise with a short-term future that looks exceedingly bleak. Mikal Bridges joins Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden in asking out of Brooklyn. A management disaster

I would say OKC is very much in a win now mode being the #1 seed last season so I expect them to add some win now players. I think they will make a big splash this off-season. They can literally get anyone in the league if they desired with their talent level and tons of picks.

they can get anyone on the market or ones known as tradable, but it's not that easy to convert those assets into a great player which is what they really need. mavs wouldn't trade luka even for the entire OKC franchise, for example. Durant may be a target in case of a locker room implosion in Phoenix, but there ain't many such players for them to grab no matter how many talents and picks they have.
Another interesting name on the list of players Knicks might have problems resigning is Achiuwa. But, it would take more than vet min to get him.
I might’ve missed this, but I’m a little surprised not to see someone making the connection between Lindsey going to Detroit and these Hardaway to Detroit rumors… No idea what that means, but it’s interesting.

Are you perhaps suggesting that Detroit is gifting us Grimes in exchange for taking our advisor?

I sure hope they spend all their picks on a 36 year old with a long history of injuries and leadership problems. He´d be perfect to implode that team. Smile

I don’t really know what to make of it, to be honest, but I doubt it’s a pure coincidence.

Here’s a theory no one will like, but has crossed my mind: maybe somebody in Detroit is simply looking for a veteran, useful player/good locker room guy with experience playing for good teams who can have a positive influence on that dumpster fire of a losing culture they have there, and Lindsey simply vouched for Hardaway? I mean, once you get past his dad’s silly public comments, he’s a pretty good team-first dude.

Isn’t that basically how Dallas ended up with Exum?

For that matter, maybe Exum is going with Hardaway (and Lindsey) to Detroit, and he is part of the allure? Pretty crazy that he’s on a minimum contract for another year, after all. Love or hate his playoff run, but he is certainly better than THAT.

I have no idea what to make of any of this without more details, but I like where we all seem to think it is heading.
the problem with Phoenix is they have no PG. they add some decent role players to the bench with the Ayton deal but still have no PG. OKC on the other hand would be really good imho. Durant would be a perfect 2nd option. Durant was born and made to be the beta guy, just not the alpha tbh.
Some predictions for New York, in the wake of tonight‘s news:

1) Julius Randle is gone. It’s going to be interesting to see what he is worth out there, and who might want him. Good player in the right situation, I just have no idea what that situation might be. He’s kind of reminding me of the end of Al Jefferson's career, a little.

2) Given the situation NY is in with the apron and OG, I wonder if they will spend all day trying to get rid of those two first round picks they have (24, 25, I think) in order to lower the cap holds for those slots. I am sure they will want to exchange them for future first round picks, for both short-term financial reasons, and to recoup some of the picks they just sent out. Not sure who really wants to trade into this draft, but if a team wants to do that, I bet those picks are available.

3) OG Anunoby is represented by Leon Rose’s kid. They have been colluding (*cough*) I mean planning this for a while now. Unless we read something about OG changing his representation in the coming days, there is a 0% chance he does not re-sign in New York. You can write that one down in blood.

NY paid 3 picks for OG no way would they let him walk imho.
Crazy that NYK could have 3 of the top 2-way wings: OG, Mikal, and Hart.

We really need to land Tari Eason.
I think this trade cements ORL as the primary Hartenstein team. Would be an awesome addition to their SL, with still cap to find an offensive guy to start. X-Suggs-Wagner-Banchero-Hartenstein

NYK probably goes with Brunson-Bridges-OG-Randle-Robinson with McBride-DDV-Hart in their bench (still have two 1sts in this draft). Very solid squad. Means Achiuwa is also probably out of reach if someone gives an offer.
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Precious would give us a really versatile FC.

It REALLY bothers me how much NYK tampers. Every single major move in building their team involved some form of shady tampering. Why the league doesn't try and penalize it, I have no idea...

The Pelicans are interested in a potential sign-and-trade for Nic Claxton, if the Nets decide to let him leave in free agency, per @MikeAScotto (https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-intel-wh...ges-trade/).

New Orleans has several admirers of Claxton within their front office.
