Sounds like Philly is about to get OG as long as they offer 42 mil a year as a starting salary.

Bridges is only making $23 million next year. OG might be $35 plus. I guess that’s part of the equation.
Edit: I guess they can still keep Anunoby?
[Wojnarowski] The Knicks are still determined to keep OG Anunoby in free agency, sources tell ESPN, but the ability to resign center Isaiah Hartenstein becomes more difficult now. The Knicks are loading up on wings to match up with the NBA champion Boston Celtics.
They can keep OG as long as they don't exceed the 1st apron. They have 41 mil of room. OG's max I believe is 45. He's gettable if a desperate team with money wants to pay *cough* PHI....
I also agree that all those picks for Bridges is a bit loony. He's great. This trade makes them better. I think they're going to regret this move in 2 years.

With Mikal Bridges traded to their crosstown rival, the Nets will officially pivot into rebuilding mode.
Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith are two more players to monitor on the trade market who could return solid value for Brooklyn.

The Nets have hopes of securing a first-round pick tomorrow.
Multiple contending teams would quickly be willing to offload their pick for Cam Johnson or Dorian Finney-Smith.

The Nets now have the opportunity to explore utilizing Ben Simmons’ massive $40.3 million expiring contract to take on unwanted salary in exchange for more draft capital.
Simmons has only played in 57 games for Brooklyn over the past three seasons.

Avdija/DJJ
PJ/Maxi/OMax/Morris
Lively/Gafford/Powell
If DJJ takes the full MLE, Mavs total roster salary is: 178,063,934 and has about 600k of room from the 1st apron.
No you'd be over the Apron there at 179.564. I'm guessing you're leaving out incentives, which all count.
But I'd want to pay DJJ under 11M, and it still all fits if you can get him at that number.

I don’t think we have the piece for DFS… or I would not want to give up what it would take. I could live with a DJj/ green and PJ/dFS pairing with Omax waiting for his spot.

THJ, TOR 25 2nd, Hardy for Grimes
Green, Kleber (routed to 3rd team), 25 1st for Cam Johnson
Kyrie/Exum
DJJ/Grimes
Luka/Omax
PJ/Johnson
Lively/Gafford
That solves the shooting woes without sacrificing much on D. Hopefully Grimes can grow into a starting role.

Correct-o-mundo.
My bad. I'm just adding the incentives in as if they are apart of the contract now because of this.

In addition to the Rockets, Dallas and Chicago also have some level of interest in Kevin Durant, I’m hearing.
So how unlikely is this

I don't see how Simmons represents value. Who in the world is lusting after a 40M payroll clogging salary attached to a player who sux, and why?

The gratuitous addition of "and Dallas" onto the list of suitors for any and every player. Gets old.

I love 3&D but you don’t really have anyone who can take creation pressure off Luka/Kyrie.

Dallas is always named in these rumors. It's maddening especially if it's inaccurate. KD? Yeah right.

Obviously.
But it's still kind of fun to think about KD telling the Suns FO: "Trade me to the Mavs, I want to play with Kyrie again no matter what, anywhere else I won't play my best"
And then it happens.
It won't happen. But you never know!

the Grimes part makes a lot of sense but I'm not getting the Johnson angle
we don't have the assets to move a 1st rounder for a bench guy

Mavs will be about 80k away from 2 vet min contracts to fill out the roster with those set of moves. I can imagine at least 1 or 2 players will see the Mavs and want to ring chase.
Here's a list of guards available for that number most likely:
Dinwiddie
CP3 if he gets waived
Monte Morris
Kyle Lowry
Pat Bev
DSJ
Patty Mills
Westbrook
Not a lot of names that stand out. As much as I dislike going back to the guy who dissed you, Dinwiddie would be a value get. DSJ really interests me as he's remade himself into a premier perimeter defender. Lowry is also interesting.
We still have Exum on the roster too as a means of creation. Grimes has flashed some ability to create as well.

I wonder if the Knicks will move Julius Randle to some desperate team with cap space (like Detroit)?
I can imagine they'd rather have a lineup of JB/Donte/OG/Bridges/Hartenstein. vs. Randle in there.
OR is this the rumored deal where the Mavs have to take on money back for a Grimes deal? Like Grimes+Randle as the salary back in the THJ (and more stuff) trade to Detroit?
Just throwing stuff at the wall here.

Part of me is concerned but part of me also knows that it's likely that he is trading up in the draft with all of that going for a young player. That would put their time line further down the road. But, it's his MO.
Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.

I'm not sure that's necessary if you have multiple role players who can give you 10-15 a night and consistently hit shots. In the playoffs you're going to put it in Luka or Kyrie's hands 90% of the time regardless. If the worry is depth in the regular season, Exum did a pretty good job last year when Kyrie went down.
