Trade & FA 2024-25:
Those PHX picks may be real valuable but wouldn't the Nets pick in 25 and 26 be more valuable now? Especially in a pretty loaded 25 draft.
it's good news Boston will face some serious challenges in the east next season.

True.   Knicks are legit with or without OG.   If Philly can get OG and other help, they also may join the party if Embid can stay healthy.    We will see if anyone else can make a jump in the East.

So, where does OG end up now.  Still NY?  Philly?  Elsewhere?

Things are getting interesting, and the draft hasn't even started.  The Knicks should change their name to the NY Novas
I was really hoping after all these pick trades and picks swap trades, one of these teams would look at their roster on Tuesday next week and ask " wait, how did we wind up with THJ?" I guess not.

It is a matter of control.  If Brooklyn wants to devalue the picks, they can.  There is no motivation to totally tank if they don’t control things.

I think NY is hard-capped and has to deal with Hartenstein and Anunoby…or not.
When you look at what Brooklyn got in total for KD versus what we paid for Kyrie…Nico looks like a genius.

this market is crazy someone like mikal costs half a dozen picks. dude is a good player but Knicks are dishing out picks like peanuts. by this standard I think we'd better give up those grant/Simons considerations and settle for some role players given the poor assets we have.
Not sure if legal and won't happen as we are trying to slim salary, but I would be interested in Bojan for Timmy. Maybe throw in a second. Probably not the fit for the guy we are looking for, but he is a bigger, better Timmy

I don't like the move. Hartenstein and Anunoby are unsigned, they risk losing both. Robinson was hurt, and Bridges is not the defender Anunoby is. I say get everyone healthy and run it back. They were a threat to Boston before the injuries.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out.   When the Knicks are good, it feels like you are on the top of the world.   Hartenstein never experienced the love he felt this year.  I am going to guess he may turn down slightly more money to stay with the Knicks as their starting center.

I am not sure about OG.   But that Garden is going to be rocking next year.  He is going to have a really difficult decision.
they only way for us to get a star player is if we can procure a first round pick somehow and draft bronny with that pick in the first round, hoping LA would agree on a sign and trade to send us LeBron at LeBron's request.

I think this was a rare case and doesn't affect the market overall. Knicks HAD to overpay because Bridges was on the Nets of all teams. Those 2 teams never make deals with each other for a reason. Last time this happened this was over 40 years ago.

Nets told the Knicks if you want Bridges, you gotta pay up. And the Knicks did.

Spotrac seems to be updated.  They have NY $41mm under the apron with 10 players.  Not enough to get both of their FA’s and stay under without some outgoing salary.
The scary thing is who does OKC want to ‘buy’ with all of their draft capital.

Bridges would’ve been so great there. PG would be interesting.
Pessimism doesn’t make you smart, just pessimistic.
Kudos to Sleeping Hero for board management tonight.  Well done sir!
trade is not official, I believe. So it may give the Knicks time to make some other moves. Move Mitchell Robinson. Include something else in the trades. If they can come to a verbal agreement with OG, I would think Randle would be moved. Randle isn't going to be happy in a reduced role, I don't think.

If we end up trading for Grimes, I would be open to packaging Green + Hardy for the third creator (like Sexton or Bogdan). This team would be a little better defensively and significantly better offensively.

If it wasn’t for the Villanova thing, is it worth all those picks to “upgrade” from Anunoby to Bridges?

Bridges is only making $23 million next year. OG might be $35 plus. I guess that’s part of the equation.

Edit: I guess they can still keep Anunoby?

[Wojnarowski] The Knicks are still determined to keep OG Anunoby in free agency, sources tell ESPN, but the ability to resign center Isaiah Hartenstein becomes more difficult now. The Knicks are loading up on wings to match up with the NBA champion Boston Celtics.
