I can understand why Kleber was leading the bigs in minutes. Didn't work but on paper he is the best option against a stretch big like Turner. Also probably the best when it comes to team defense (excluding Powell) aspects like rotations. Not sure why Gafford is getting minutes over Lively.

Thanks for sharing. I did not see the third quarter, but some of those turnovers and shots were not good.
These three plays is what caught my eye when watching. Not sure if the third one is his fault, but he certainly didn't appear to be in the best position. The second one what the big one. It was right after a timeout with the Mavs down 4. This was a run of 3 straight threes by the Pacers that pretty much put the game away.

Maybe someone can let me know this was not Tim's responsbility, but it doesn't look good. Even the last one, it looks like PJ was going to pick up his guy when he noticed Shepperd was all by himself. Maybe that was just poor communication?

They were switching everything and Tim didn't. It was 100% his fault in that case.
Another play:

Zero reason for Timmy to sink that low, strong side, off of a very strong 3pt shooter. It's PJ's rotation if Gafford gets beat, but for seemingly no reason Timmy sinks really far down.

Another play where Timmy roams off of his man Smith, to fill up space in the paint. That's not really his job there though, given that Luka is right there and PJ is in position for weakside help. Then of course because Timmy is so far out of position, when Turner gets the ball, he literally Gortat screens Gafford and leads to an easy bucket for Indiana. There is no reason to have 4 guys in the paint there!

When he's solo camping the paint like that it looks like he's stat hunting for charges taken cause his defensive reputation isn't ever gonna change. He's a lost cause really. Once Exum is back I wouldn't mind shutting him down and just saying the Mavs are going with the youth movement and playing Exum/Hardy. Really don't care about his trade value. His value is an expiring and some team may want an expiring quick trigger 3pt shooter but it's not worth trying to increase his trade value anymore. Way too risky.

27th defensive rating on the court
4th off the court
The worst part is there’s over 400 more minutes ON than off
The deep dive on the rest of the advanced numbers are just as bad
Worst case scenario Hardaway causes locker room problems because he’s not getting his shots/minutes. I think that’s why Kidd is playing him so much. We already know Sr is capable of causing more problems

Watched a little of the Toronto-Indiana game tonight.
The problem with the Mavs the other night was definitely offense.

Toronto beat them, 130-122 after they blitzed the Mavs. Scottie Barnes had a triple double. They were on a bck to bck, but that shouldn't be an excuse. That's the NBA.
