Porzingis and Ayton on the Wizards, I don‘t know.
And the Suns are one of the few teams with a better shooting guard than Beal in Booker, or do they want Booker to play point guard…? Strange from all perspectives, but what do I know.
Beal has a no trade clause so he basically chooses where he wants to go. Washington only option is to say yes or no. Phoenix could do a package of CP3+Shamet or Ayton+Shamet. As they only have second rounders, first one really doesn't make any sense for Washington. Could they see Ayton as their center for the future? Find a third team to give them more assets for Ayton?
From Phoenix side, I don't get it. How do you build a team around 3 max players? Unless the deal would include both Ayton and CP3 and Washington sending some more vets (Wright, Morris or Gafford) to Phoenix.
In any case, if Phoenix manages to get a player like Beal for so little as they have, I see this as just another loss for Mavs.

This is where player relationships matter. I have no doubt in my mind KD+Booker are the ones pulling the strings here. Like you said, Beal chooses where he wants to go. KD+Book convinced Beal that PHX is the place to be, so that's why they can get him for so little.
If there wasn't a NTC in this equation, Beal would probably be shipped off to OKC/SAC/POR for a bunch of assets that PHX couldn't possibly come close to.

This makes zero sense for Dallas. Hield is perhaps worth a late FRP. Mavs have no need for him. Even if they send out just Bertans, it doesn't really improve them, as Mavs need defenders first.
What else could be coming Mavs way to make any sense to do this, assuming #10 is involved?

Maybe the Hield interest is with the idea THJ is outgoing in a trade to Atlanta.

I know. But I thought Nico and Kidd were hired because they are relationships guys. Thats why a failure for Mavs. Not that Beal really fits on Mavs team, but if you could get him this cheaply...
If Phoenix could turn Ayton+CP3 into Morris, Gafford and Beal, that team would be very, very difficult to beat.

THJ is sort of redundant and Hield is a very similar player. Sure it is great to have a top shooter, but Mavs need defense above anything else.

When WAS is wheeling and dealing, how can DAL end up with Gafford? I want that to be the end result.

I dont think it has anything to do with the #10 pick. That would be ridiculous for Hield.
I agree we need defense obviously. But if THJ can shoot 39% from 3 playing with Luka, Hield might break records. Reggie Bullock and Josh Green isnt enough shooting probably (if THJ is traded).

But why would they need to include a third team, if not for additional assets? Hield is expiring and is a salary match for OG. Contract wise, Toronto couldn't do much better. Third team makes sense only, if they are sending more assets to Toronto. But even if Indy would be sending us all their late FRPs they have, I wouldn't trade #10 for Hield. Best asset we have for a player we don't need.

The easiest path seems to be trading down and sending the new pick to Washington.

Assuming OG to Indy is true and not just agents pushing a team like Portland to raise their offer, tells us one thing. Indy wants to compete and Turner is not available.

This is just Indiana trying to scrape together more value to complete the OG deal. They probably called and offered Hield+26 for 10, Dallas immediately declined, and then Indy went back to the drawing board.

Good news is that if the Mavs trade #10 for Buddy Hield, we'll have plenty of time for new hobbies.

I would send 15 (maybe even 10) with McGee as the match, for a package of Gafford, Kispert, and pick 42.

Maybe trade down?
Bertans to Raptors, Hield to Mavs, OG to Pacers. 7th and 10th to Raptors and 13th to Dallas? Maybe Indiana can eat Bertans contract too
Why for Mavs? Save 5M in 24/25 season, get an actual rotation player for Bertans, free THJ for future trade. All on the expense of trading 3 spots down?
Pacers: get their guy, they want to compete, OG makes them playoff team if they stay healthy.
Raptors, they get 7th, 10th for OG and 13th, allow them to free rotation for Barnes.
I would say it is good deal overall. Maybe Raptors could get more though

Its either centered around Paul+Shamet, or Ayton+Shamet.
Either deal doesn't make much sense for Washington if they're trying to clean their books. CP3 definitely helps clean their sheet, but there is literally no value there for Washington and they're trading the superstar here.
Ayton is a young center to build around, but he isn't cheap. There were rumors (on Bill Simmons podcast) that KP is going to opt into his 36mil option. If that's the case then Washington would be paying almost 70 mil for 2 centers. That doesn't make much sense either in terms of money saving.
With that in mind, it almost has to be a 3-team deal. Especially a team that has picks.
You all know where I'm going with this:
Bertans+Bullock+10+CP3 to WAS
Ayton to DAL
Beal+Morris to PHX.
Should Washington S/W all 3 of these guys, they'd be about 12 mil of dead money each year for 5 years, but they reduce their payroll nearly 38 mil, and their cap sheet is clean as early as 2024 (if they lose Kuzma they get about 25 mil under the cap). Essentially they're taking 1 year of Beal's money and dividing it over 5 years. They also get a lottery pick and whatever else PHX throws their way.
Dallas obviously gets their starting center. They are also providing the most value in this deal in terms of the lotto pick and further cap relief. Bertans+Bullock+10 for Ayton seems a bit high, but if Dallas goes to IND and spins THJ into 26+29+Theis (or McConnell) their own cap sheet all of a sudden looks seriously well balanced and they stay in the draft.
Dallas nor is anyone else in the league trading a lottery pick for Ayton. That is a big time overpay and the Mavs would be bidding against themselves.

What would a THJ for Hield trade (no picks) do for the Mavs? I wouldn't be surprised if that was available.

Yeah I think this is either 1 of 2 deals.
Bullock+OG go to IND.
7+26+29+stuff to TOR
Hield to DAL
OR:
OG to IND
7+10+26+29+27 Mavs FRP to TOR
Siakam+Hield to DAL
Some framework like that.
Turner could also be put in one of these trades as well.
