The clutch D for the Mavs has been PHENOMENAL and I absolutely think Luka's weight being down (what did MacMahon say, 20-30 lbs?!?) is making a huge difference there. He just isn't moving like an old man like he was early in the season and by the time the 4th comes around that makes all the difference in the world.

The Mavs have a very hard schedule in the rest of the way. Making up ground on any team that doesn't implode will be difficult.
I think the Mavs have the most difficult remaining schedule of the top 6 teams in the West.
Home vs. Utah. Road games as Mil, Minn, Nets, Boston, Phil, and Cleveland. Two back to backs on the road as well. Pretty brutal.

Mavs have played well against good teams lately. B-2-B's are no fun, but I am excited to see this team take on all comers right now! Want to kick the tires before the playoffs. Last few are against non-playoff teams, so that is good for rest heading in to the playoffs if you need it.

Um, every published 'strength of schedule' I could find has Dallas with the easiest remaining schedule among the West top 6, often by a large margin. Denver, Utah, and Golden State (the 3 teams we particularly care about) generally have among the toughest remaining schedule. What did you base your comparison on?

Looks like you are right. Mavs have 4th easiest remaining schedule in the league by current record SOS. I think that there are a few tough ones on there - especially now that Bkn and Phi have their new squads. I wonder when Ben Simmons will finally suit up.

Minor issue, but what is the deal with Chriss and the ongoing knee soreness? I was interested to see if he would provide spot minutes as a defensive big/rebounder. They thought enough to sign him to a real contract, but he's been hurt for a while now.

Yeah, I'm getting worried about this, too.

Chriss is probably still getting healthy and back into basketball shape. I wouldn't count on minutes for him until next year at this point.

Um, look at who we play and where we play them. Close to half of our games we won't be favored. SOS metrics takes in the full record of all remaining teams. Let me ask you would you rather play two 32-32 teams or play one 45-20 team at their house and a 17-48 team at home? Which scenario would most likely result in 2-0?

Which has a more likely result of 0-2?

Utah has these games left:
vs Milwaukee
vs Chicago
vs Memphis
vs Phoenix
@ Brooklyn (2nd night of back to back)
@ Boston
@ Dallas (game 5 of a 6 game road trip)
@ Golden State
Mavs tough games to go:
vs Utah
@ Boston
@ Brooklyn
@ Philly
@ Cleveland (tough?)
@ Milwaukee

Didn't really answer my question. The SOS issue isn't simply who the Mavs play, it's also who Utah (and Denver and Golden State) play.

I’ve been wondering about Chriss too. He plays the right position to make an impact down the stretch

Of course, if we keep crapping the bed against teams like New York, SOS is not terribly relevant.
