Lauri is the more fluid in his motions but they are pretty much the same player. 

They're definitely similar. Olynyk is the better player at this point. Stronger, better defensively, more efficient and comfortable as a backup. Markannen has more upside given his age, but he's been inconsistent in a backup role, and he sees himself as a starter. He's also injured a lot.

the only thing I can think of is maybe they are trying to get something done by Friday before the Lowry deal is completed so they can piggyback that but I have been reading Dragic might just be a separate transaction.

So Lowry has to be done by Friday? Cool. That's gotta be the deadline, then, right? So then the standoff is TOR saying, "we'll just keep him", which they don't want to do, and Dallas, saying "go ahead", which they don't prefer. 

Who gets hurt the most by TOR not moving Dragic?

I personally cannot go there, especially if the new leadership think JG and TT have "it." TOR doesn't want Dragic, with enough patience he should be available. And even if the Mavs miss on Dragic (which I don't want!), they will be ok and have other avenues to explore.

I agree with this sentiment mostly (although I think if we could get the deal done with Terry and Burke it would already be done) but out of curiosity, what are those other options?  I don't see how we get Reggie or Schroder (don't want).

I think Dragic for DP+? could be done as a separate deal as well, unless MIA including something else is part of the stick.

1) Using the TPE.

2) Changing Bullock into a TPE deal with NYK and then having the MLE.

3) Trade market.

I don't have specific guys I am thinking of, but I am confident there would be some sort of viable options to explore.

Trades are always an option, but we have limited assets and a clear need putting us at a disadvantage.  Is there anybody left in the MLE market that would be a decent secondary play maker?

...the other Reggie is available, but pretty sure the Clipps have the early Bird which trumps the MLE, and other teams might have cap room. If Nico could convince Jackson to come here for a pay cut, all is forgiven.

In theory the Mavs could still go after Reggie Jackson if they traded Powell+Brunson somewhere for space. Not sure who still has space though.

In any case it's clear their priority is Dragic.

Reports are they don't want him at $19M. Big expiring contracts - meh.

Given that WCS is supposedly outgoing in that deal, who plays center for the Mavs in that scenario? I like Tobey, but is he good enough to start?

I don't see how? The Thunder are still gonna have to pay Kemba a presumably large amount of his remaining contract.

Because they can point to the Thunder and say "See, they bought out Kemba Walker who was owed more."

Agreed.  I believe that if we had a plethora of assets to give, you'd see Nico give up one easily for Dragic, but we don't and I think that this hold up speaks to two things
1)  How bare Nico sees the cupboard is
2)  How little of a pushover he's going to be

Half our team are centers at the moment, right?

I say trade them all (including KP) but Maxi and Bobi.

Start Holmes and Spicy P, but play Spicy P as small ball center some as well. 

But since KP is staying, all of the above is unrealistic, KP is the center.

My guess is that Duffy has kept him apprised of the scearios, and that "TOR buys you out and then you sign with Dallas" is one of them.
