The obvious, easy, logical KD trade not being discussed ....

2 separate trades for cap purposes, but one deal:

1. Mavs get KD
PHX gets AD

2. Mavs get Booker
PHX get PJ, Klay, Gafford, Martin and 2028 after swap

In reality, I think Booker and AD are similar value. And KD for parts is more than likely what he'll fetch.

But this deal only happens if Nico is fired.

Again, I think Booker could land future picks.

Right, so 2-4 more years of prime left. They'd be insane to make that deal, imo.

If you're asking what I, KL, would do, that's fairly irrelevant, but I'd jump into finding a pick and roll ball-handler to replace Luka with everything at my disposal. It would be tough, and they're not going to get someone as great as Luka, obviously, but it's not a super rare animal in the sport these days. Can they find someone at the Brunson/Haliburton level whose team would consider moving him? Probably not, so I'd go to the next tier down, and so on. Whatever level of player you land on, it would unquestionably require inclusion of either Lively or Gafford to get them, in which case Davis might actually start to look more like "the answer" on the resulting team.

I don't really entertain the thought that Davis will be moved, whether or not a GM change is made, although I'd never have imagined the Luka deal we just saw, either, so...

It doesn't mention the assists they get from the move, but it seems guys like McConnell or Schroeder are gettable, maybe Russ considering he is another Nike former super star.

It needs to be underscored that the Mavs will probably only have minimum salary to offer a free agent, so they have to find this savior on offense via trade, But the better he is, the less likely he is to be available via trade, because the competent GMs of the NBA aren't likely to let their highly-skilled offense creators get away.

Sadly, the Mavs currently lack a GM who understands the value of a player who can create offense, so there's that. Hopefully that will change.

We will probably sign a part time PG waiting for another all star who wants to change team (like Kyrie 3 years ago).

You have to pull a NY and steal someone with potential away from a team that cannot match an offer and do we even have room to make such an offer. The new owner owes the city of Dallas a billion dollars for trading Luka and till he comes through on a championship he either pays up or we need to make plans to extract our pound of flesh. I say we start a tax to buy another Franchise and move it here and then kick the Mavericks out of Dallas. I say we buy the Lakers. Think bigger guys.

The Mavs have NO ability to make a competitive offer to a FA in demand (they lack spending room), and no roster room either.
