The Suns had long been targeting Miles Bridges for the last year. After their recent signings, it seemed highly likely that Phoenix would look to move at least Grayson Allen in a trade.

Now they move them both with draft compensation for Bridges, an immediate contributor.

By sacrificing a future 2033 first for a 2029 first, the Suns now have access to all picks 2027 through 2029, opening up potential trade avenues for Phoenix.

Smart front-office maneuverability.

Hornets roster post Bridges trade

* Flexibility to continue adding to the roster
* Massive TE from the LaMelo trade
* Loaded with 1st rd. picks, including two unprotected firsts in 2033 (via Minnesota and Phoenix)

Hornets could also have 3 firsts in next years draft also.

This Suns trade for Miles Bridges came about late last night. The plan is that Bridges will not just be here for one year - at some point not sure when they would like to extend him. To replace Grayson Allen the Suns are looking at 7 to 8 free agent shooting guards. So, another move coming here in free agency soon.

Impressive that the Suns somehow managed to get less likeable by trading Allen away.

Agreed. Grayson Allen is a choir boy compared to a guy that was physically abusive to the Mother of his kids in front of them. Matt Ishbia has a thing for former Mich State grads. Joel Bartenstein is the CEO of the Suns, and his teammate on the 2000 championship team, Mateen Cleaves is an assistant coach.

What am I missing here? I thought that the core of Kon, Ball and Bridges was something for Charlotte to build with. I know they missed the POs last year after the play-in loss, but, IMO, that would be something to try an build around. But it looks like they're tearing down to the studs hoping to rebuild with picks and trades.

I know, as a Mavs fan, it's the pot calling the kettle names, but at least it feels like there's the concept of a core group here.

I think it’s clear they hated Ball, did not think they could build around him and leaped at the chance to get some value.

Kon, Ball, and you spelled Miller wrong.

I’m glad we didn’t get either Bridges nor Allen for your sake.

Sometimes, a GM and coach will decide that the core isn’t good enough.

So they get rid of good pieces in the quest for excellence. Occasionally, it works.
