Seems like it's been forever since we had a Dirkie Thread. This is even sweeter since it came against the Lakers. We've got a whole passel of players who deserve some consideration.
P. J. Washington continues to be a mainstay--a stiff mainstay--for the team.
Dinwiddie provided some needed points and 8 assists. Looked a little more like the Dinwiddie of old.
Thompson scored a few points...and provided a bit of misdirection.
Kleber? Man...look at his stats and you wonder why this bum gets on the floor. Watch the game and you can see what he does that is so important to the team. I just wish he would shoot the ball more!
Quentin Grimes may soon be pushing P.J. for third best on the team.
Jaden Hardy is a rhythm player. He needs time to play. The last few games he's came up pretty big for the Mavs.
Quentin Grimes has earned my Dirkie!

Kleber was decidedly more aggressive on offense tonight and you are right about his defense. Quentin is getting better and better. My Dirkie after 5 long games goes to QG.

First thought that came to mind was "sheesh it's been forever since we had a Dirkie thread"
Seems like great minds think alike!
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

You might want to reconsider that comparison. I only have 13 brain cells left. However, in this instance, it hits the nail on the head. I hope we don't have to go through this again.
The Lakers game was a great team effort. The key word is "team".

Shooting the triple 50 over the last few games. 50% from field, 50% from 3, 50% from FT line.
The guy is a SG. It´s really not hard to see. Keep it simple. Catch and shoot, one escape dribble, mid-range pull ups. He does not have the handles for a PG. Given that our PG is 6´8 and fluctuates between 230 and 330 pounds (I Kidd) we are one of the few teams that should be able to get away with a short-ish SG.
We still have that hole at back-up PF, cause Kleber is clearly a center, but otherwise I think this roster deserves a chance to play it out. The depth of the 2025 draft (especially in the wake of our uncertain injury situation) provides much better value than the miniscule upgrade we can expect for Kleber (and Hardy) imho. Plus I´m not 100% sure defense is the real issue as suggested by trade targets like DJJ, Jones and Thybulle. We have played some great defense in the stretches, when Kyrie and everybody else bar Luka was available.
We have played multiple teams shorthanded now, and the only teams that I respect are the top 4. They don´t feel like great match-ups and have very good coaches. Teams like the Lakers, Kings, Suns, Wolves, Spurs, Warriors just don´t scare me at all. Clippers would probably deserve respect, if Kawhi was healthy.
I think we are just f*****, in the likely scenario we have to play Boston in our WC induced worn down state. They are the one team I have no confidence in beating.

I missed this game, unfortunately, but watching various highlight videos, it occurs to me that the Dirkie winner should be Austin Reeves, the defender.

It never occurred to me to watch Austin Reeves as a defender. Whatever he did or didn't do I hope he does more of it when the Lakers play us again!

I saw a clip of like 30 possessions were the Mavericks isolated against him and scored. It didn’t matter who the Mavericks player was, they were just letting whoever he ended up guarding go one on one.
