RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - loki - 02-01-2021 JRich + Terry for Joe Harris? The Mavs need shooting and the Nets need defense... The Mavs need shooting and the Nets need defense... Don't think the Nets do that, and I hate losing JRich after what we gave up for him, but this is the sort of move we might need. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - cow - 02-01-2021 (02-01-2021, 11:46 PM)loki Wrote: JRich + Terry for Joe Harris? The Mavs need shooting and the Nets need defense... They'd look awful foolish for turning Curry into JRich + Bey only to turn around and execute that trade. JRich isn't going to fix the nets defense. They might as well keep playing YOLO ball and hope they can hit on their last possession. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - HanspardsShowerVoice - 02-02-2021 Absolutely no way on Westbrook. Look past the name on the back of the jersey, and look at the actual player he is today. He's the Detroit Pistons version of Allen Iverson. His right knee is shot (4 surgeries and PRP injections) and it's only going to get worse with more age. There is no good version of Russell Westbrook if he's not the best athlete on the court and has to provide value with shooting/defense/playing off ball/setting screen/doing dirty work. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - SleepingHero - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 09:23 AM)HanspardsShowerVoice Wrote: Absolutely no way on Westbrook. But what if it gets us prime Beal? Taking Westbrook's contract alone is worth 2-3 FRP, which allows the Mavs to actually compete with other offers. Prime Beal would be such a good foil off of Luka, and to pair him with KP is an added bonus. WB is garbage right now but I'd just tell him to stay home as long as we get Beal. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - SwisherPrice - 02-02-2021 It's getting bad...and this free agent class is nothing special when it comes to realistic options. I'm even starting to talk myself into players like Evan Fournier RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - jesusshuttlesworth82 - 02-02-2021 Trade market is gonna be the way to go if they want to add talent while retaining JRich and THJ. I was always a big Maxi fan anyway but with Powell being a shell of his former self, I dont know if we can afford to dangle Maxi. You can dangle Brunson and/or DFS + a future 1st + Josh Green and/or Terry + James Johnson expiring. (although I guess we better be getting another playmaker if Brunson is outgoing) That trade package would look A LOT stronger if we had Maxey or Quickley in there instead of Josh Green. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - cow - 02-02-2021 Pretty good read. https://hoopshype.com/2021/02/02/bradley-beal-trade-rumors-scott-brooks-wizards/ 1:40 Bradley Beal’s body language against the Nets during the first half and what NBA executives and scouts were saying Katz: Ever since I’ve been covering the Wizards, which is two and a half years, the narrative around Beal has been when is he no longer going to be a Wizard? A couple of times a year, the Wizards will end up on the NBA TV game, and Beal’s body language will be weird because that’s just what he looks like a lot of the time. He slouches, hands at the sides. Him not running back on defense has been a thing for a couple of years now. It’s just kind of part of his game. 11:53 So if Beal wants a trade or the Wizards explore a trade, what’s his value? Scotto: One exec said, ‘A whole bunch of picks, and I think they could try to have another team take a bad contract with him as well. I think it’d be somewhere between the Jrue Holiday and Harden trades. Harden was an MVP scoring champ in terms of talent. He (Beal) is in between both of them.’ Another exec said, ‘If you look at the last couple of trades, depending on the players going back, I’d imagine two or three first-round picks and potentially pick swaps as well.’ RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - SleepingHero - 02-02-2021 2-3 picks for Beal and a pick swap? Sign me the F up. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - Kammrath - 02-02-2021 RE: Beal Beal's career defensive on/off numbers.... 20-21: -11.6 19-20: -10.7 18-19: -5.8 17-18: +3.0 16-17: -0.4 15-16: -1.8 14-15: +0.5 13-14: -0.6 12-13: +0.2 My big question: Is he able to be a neutral on D if in a better situation or are the last three years the trajectory for the rest of his career? RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - cow - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 05:09 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: 2-3 picks for Beal and a pick swap? Sign me the F up. The good news: Dallas could to do the 2x FRP, pick swaps and the bad contract. The bad news is Westbrook is the only bad contract on their books unless they are having Bertans buyers remorse. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 05:25 PM)Kammrath Wrote: Is he able to be a neutral on D if in a better situation or are the last three years the trajectory for the rest of his career? This is an especially important question when you realize that here with Luka, he's almost guaranteed to have to guard opposing PG's. It's Richardson's role he'd take, for sure. I haven't given up on Richardson yet, myself. I guess it's possible that the main lineup could involve two guards PLUS Luka, but then either A) Luka and a DFS type are the forwards, which tons of people here hate or B) Luka and a PF type are the forwards, leaving Luka as the best option to guard guys like Leonard, George, etc. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - cow - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 05:25 PM)Kammrath Wrote: RE: Beal That's why snipped that segment from the article about "not running back on D" being part of his game. I'm not sure we the Mavs could make a compelling enough trade package without taking Westbrook back and the salary matching gets difficult. That's assuming KP isn't in the mix. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - Kammrath - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 05:41 PM)cow Wrote: That's assuming KP isn't in the mix. I honestly would be inclined to include KP I think. Then you could get a center that is more "dirty work" to help shore up the defensive shortcomings on the perimeter. This was not true last year and was just barely the year before. His D has been so BAD that his elite offense hasn't been able to offset it, believe it or not. Earlier in his career? YES, but the last three years have been almost historically bad. Like Trae Young bad. Like Trae Young bad. So his bad D coincided right when Washington became a bottom dweller due to injuries/lack of help? If so, shouldn't it stand to think that Beal would only improve being put on a team with a deep run on the mind? For sure and I was being slightly hyperbolic. THJ isn't necessarily terrible on D. He can make some good plays. He's more or less a slight negative to neutral. I think Beal could give that more often than not and his offensive firepower should be well worth it. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - Kammrath - 02-02-2021 (02-02-2021, 07:35 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: If so, shouldn't it stand to think that Beal would only improve being put on a team with a deep run on the mind? Like I said a number of posts ago, that's the question. The data suggests that it could go either way. Could he be better in DAL defensively? Yep. Could he still be an abomination? Yep. It just adds a layer of risk to his acquisition because the Mavs would be pulling a "Jrue Holiday" and painting themselves into a corner asset wise. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - SwisherPrice - 02-02-2021 Bey and Hinton headed to the G-League bubble. Too bad they couldn't take Terry down there too |
