RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - SleepingHero - 07-13-2021 (07-12-2021, 06:20 PM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: So, your offseason is Conley (my pick, but you could pick someone else), Holmes, Wiseman and Oubre or you say no to GS and get Conley and whatever $12mm will buy and still have KP. What say ye? Conley +KP +12 mil is my choice of those two options. Oubre is a negative player (though there might be some upside somewhere there). Wiseman is terrible, at least right now. The Mavs shouldn't be held back with the idea and hope that Wiseman can develop into the player they need. They need ready made dudes now. Luka has shown he's ready to go. Holmes would be a great get. But getting him inherently eats into the Wiseman acquisition so it doesn't really make sense. Basically the only good center on the market and several teams in dire need of a center. Sacramento wants to keep him, Charlotte needs a center,... I would be ok in the 13-15 per range, I am affraid he will get 20 per. I actually like Clippers team construction. Have a decent cheap centre to fight those couple of rare offensive bigs and long big wings. So if I am moving from KP, I would be perfectly fine with someone like Noel or Birch as a center at MLE level (or lower) contract, while I invest the rest into 3-D guards and wings. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Chicagojk - 07-13-2021 If Nico was hired to think big, maybe we are not thinking big enough. How about both Lowry and Derozan? More salary would need to be moved to even make this a possibility. Lowry scares me due to his age and that I think he is going to be the most difficult of the top FA to sign imo. But he is the exact type of player we are missing. Maybe if you could bring his buddy, Derozan, you would have a better shot at him. Could a Luka, Lowry, Derozan, DFS, KP lineup even work if this far fetched situation was remotely possible? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Branduil - 07-13-2021 Going back to Brogdon, as always... them hiring Rick could help us here, as we happen to have several players he obviously liked who would fit in well with them. THJ could give them a quality volume shooter, and Maxi would fit nicely with either one of their bigs, so they could either keep both and have Maxi as their big off the bench, or trade one and still have a starter. Losing Maxi and THJ but adding Brogdon should bring our cap space to about 19 million. Even dumping WCS and Burke doesn't get you to quite enough for John Collins max money, but it's close. Ideally at this point you could work out a S&T. Earlier Powell+Brunson for Knox+#21 was floated, how about that deal but sending the New York assets to Atlanta? If you can also send JRich somewhere, you can get Collins and still have the MLE+BAE. The topper would be to get someone like Dragic with the MLE, add a backup wing with the BAE, and find a decent 4th big somewhere for the minimum. Luka / Dragic Brogdon / Terry DFS / BAE / Green Collins / Bey KP / WCS Obviously the downside here is the Mavs would be forced to rely upon the sophomores a LOT more, but the starters are leagues ahead of last season, and maybe our picks will actually turn out good, who knows. At least when healthy, we should have 2 of Luka/Brogdon/Dragic out there at all times, plus one of KP/Collins. How about both Lowry and Derozan? Based on last couple of offseasons signing Graham for max would be thinking big Since trading for KP Mavs were unable to add a single player that was a starter level player in the league, despite having max cap space in 2019. (07-13-2021, 07:53 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: Could a Luka, Lowry, Derozan, DFS, KP lineup even work if this far fetched situation was remotely possible? I think yes, if DDR and Lowry want to merge to win a ring together, puting team first. DDR and Lowry would probably be big enough to attract good players for exception money. I would construct this team for 2-3 season window and Mavs would probably be good enough to be in a wider circle of contenders. Since we are signing both it seems neither is on a really bad contract so plenty of flexibility going forward. After 2024 you can reconstruct the team having just Luka under contract at that point. I suggested the Lowry/DeRozan package 2-3 months ago, since it seems a pretty straight forward idea, if you get them to agree on Dallas. Both are UFAs, so you´d only need to pull off one S&T (probably with Toronto) to sign the other outright. I think Sacramento will try very hard to keep him. My guess is they will be dumping Bagley for minor asset or trading Buddy for less money coming in. Or both. I still think Holmes will go for around 20 per. But I need to believe what I saw in college as he was my second favorite prospect in that draft. Even with a new front office though, I don't think they trade him to Dallas even if Dallas had a legit offer or interest. Can you imagine being a fan of the Kings and already being upset by passing on Luka only to see Bagley flourish playing next to Luka? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - StepBackJay - 07-13-2021 Can @"Kammrath" or someone point me to the source for "Trading KP top priority" - did someone mention that somewhere? I am looking through back-scroll and I don't see anything. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Chicagojk - 07-13-2021 I know Malik Monk has been talked about here a lot, but I was watching highlights of him yesterday and thinking if he could provide similar production as Tim Hardaway in a younger, more upside player? Having an elite athlete who can shoot and sky would be fun next to Luka. Monk made Luke Walton All stars (under appreciated players) and Lowe said that while Monk will never be great on defense, but he is engaged and is one of the best on the team on understanding schemes and personnel. It also seems like he has matured quite a bit since entering the league at 19. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Kammrath - 07-13-2021 Has there been any discussion on the possibility of... Norman Powell (sign & trade for ~$16M?) + Nurkic ($12M) for KP? P.S. You can bundle players in a sign and trade situation, right? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - omahen - 07-13-2021 (07-13-2021, 09:08 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: What do you consider a minor asset? A late first round pick? Let's say OKC - they already have more picks than roster places. So why not trading a couple of them to take a flier on what was once a huge prospect. Even with Dallas I would be intrigued on giving it a try for a couple of second rounders. (07-13-2021, 09:08 AM)Chicagojk Wrote: Can you imagine being a fan of the Kings and already being upset by passing on Luka only to see Bagley flourish playing next to Luka? Bagley was a mistake of the previous office and the new one has the ability to cut it. I don't think it is a lot of difference regarding PR, if Bagley makes it afterall - no matter where they trade him to. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL w/ $22.7M-$34.4M | FA Aug 2, 5 pm | trading KP top priority? - Mavs2021 - 07-13-2021 I´m really curious who it will be that regrets giving Richaun Holmes $20M/year. That would make him the 54th highest paid player in the league, which basically translates to 2nd/3rd best player on a championship team. That´s more money than Turner, Sabonis, Capela, Valanciunas, Adams, Brook Lopez.... Guy has legit NBA sources in the northeast of the country. I speculated that the info came from inside the Knicks office or another team in that area who is aware of conversations the Mavs are having around the league. I also speculated that it could have been Janis feeding Ross info. Don't think it is total BS and is certainly founded in something. It might not represent 100% of the truth, but I think there is something to it. I don't know) and who they claim has sources in the Northeast...so it's not really a legitimate source to change the title of the thread and make that big of a deal about...except on a messageboard run by folks who are predisposed to hate KP.
