The last five play-offs games THJ shot:

25-74 = 33.7%
12-40 = 30%
8-8 = 100%

14 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 0.8 APG on bad shooting and suspect defense. One reason we struggle so much without Luka is that THJ cannot handle the ball at all.

If you exclude THJ´s two first games in this series, that´s also not that far off what his career play-off stats look like. You can easily replace that production.

Orlando probably has no use for Terrence Ross anymore. I think they would consider Richardson for T-Ross straight up. One year less on Richardson, slightly smaller salary and can probably agree to a buyout eventually to save even more money. The Mavs get a player for a cost-controlling 25/2, rather than 72/4 for THJ.

Mavs2012, totally agree with the THJ take. Now you’ve made this move for T-Ross, what are the remaining steps in the offseason if you’re head of creative in the front office?

@"mvossman" I am with you on Lonzo being a better target I just think Lonzo's eyes are on Chicago and Mavs eyes are on Collins. I think the issue with Lonzo is not so much getting a deal done with the Pels, its getting Lonzo to sign. Lonzo doesn't have to sign with anyone he doesn't want to and there's strong reason to believe Chicago is his own real choice. So at that point its up to Pels and Chicago to arrange a deal and I do believe they will come to an agreement.

Now the Mavs angle here is jumping in on this deal to see if there are any moving parts the Mavs could get out of a multi-team trade.

All the Chicago pieces: Aminu, Markkanen (S&T), Sato, Young are interesting. On the Pels side Adams or I guess Hart  (S&T) would be interesting. Hart is not a guy I would want to spend MLE on but if you could flip WCS into a modest Hart contract then that would be good for me.

For Dallas, J Rich would be the primary outgoing piece, but NOP might have interest in WCS as part of a deal that sends Adams and Ball to Dallas. For example you could pay Hart a starting salary of 6 mil as part of that trade.

This would be one of the many Collins-backup plans if that deal doesn't materialize. Mavs would get two rotation guys (Adams, Hart) while keeping the MLE for a ball-mover like Dragic.

Who will be RFA next year? Are there any good players?

Not sure what he means. He certainly cannot mean NBA.com or BBall ref. BLK%.

He ruins our offense though. If only Willie could roll to the rim like Powell.

Finally figured it out. Playoffs only. WCS had 80% (4/5) of all Mavs blocks when he was on the floor. Not really telling us a lot.

RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 06-15-2021

Contrary to popular belief I think J Rich and WCS will be small assets, having utility as players and also reasonable 1 yr contracts. Mavs could just hang onto WCS or they might be able to find someone as good or better for BAE (Zeller, Baynes, Dieng, Biyombo as a few potential candidates) and flip WCS for another player making up to 6 mil yr.

I don't know how much Josh Hart will make but lets say a guy like that (solid role player) has value somewhere in the BAE to MLE range. Well replacing WCS for a player of equal talent means you might be able to flip him. to Pels for a Hart S&T. Pels need defensive bigs so they might be interested in a cheap rotational big. And that's just one example where you squeeze in an additional rotational player.

RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 06-15-2021

Another avenue is that even though WCS + Burke don't have a lot of value they have enough value as cheap rotational guys that you might be able to get someone decent on another team that is their own "dump" guy. So for example if the Bulls don't have a lot of use for Aminu maybe they would have more use for WCS and Burke. I have no idea.

The real prize would be Terrence Ross. He should have plenty of suitors because he is a productive player with a very reasonable contract.

Using J Rich in a 3-way you give the Magic some kind of asset (don't think they want or need J Rich) from the Mavs, a 3rd team or combine (ie each team pitches in a 2nd).

Thanks for figuring that out.

What a random thing to throw out there by that guy.

One guy who I think is really underrated is Michael-Carter-Williams as a rotation guy you can get from rebuilding Orlando. If you can trade him for Burke I think that would be an easy decision. He is not a shooter but again we need a passer in that second unit and he is actually a pretty good passer off the bench.

For sure. Usually BLK% stands for number of blocks vs attempted 2pt-FG attempts when a player is on the floor.

League leaders:

Myles Turner 8.8%
Nerlens Noel 8.7%
Boucher 7.6%
Gobert 7.0%
Capela 6.0%
Poeltl  5.7%
...
WCS 4.4%
KP 4.1%
Powell 2.9%
Kleber 2.1%

Based on the top guys it´s actually not the worst stat. Would have them in a different order but the top defensive bigs are all among the best in BLK%.
Goes along with the numbers from the shot contest chart @"Kammrath" posted in the Gobert thread.

I think the time for a Mavs-Turner marriage is now. I hope Markkiebob Nelcubagaris makes that happen.

I love the Josh Hart idea and was thinking about him the other day in the sense of a sign and trade for Josh Richardson. I agree with you the Mavs are definitely in a really good spot with some of those 1 year deals. I fully expect to see WCS and Richardson not on the roster next year.

Glad to see someone is hyping up Josh Hart...by the way did you know that Josh Hart averaged 8 rebounds a game? He did that playing as a part time player.

I am pro Hart if you can get creative. In my scenario you are squeezing an extra rotation player in FA. I just don't want to use MLE on him bc I think there are bigger impact players you can get. If he could be your third impact rotation guy then that would be good.

I have always like Hart.   Not sure if he would be my priority with what we have nor if NO wants to lose him.  Winner and tough though.

Can anyone help me understand why Steven Adams has a strong following here?   I am curious why he has a lot of interest/or at least some.   I saw a guy who look a little labored this year.   The one lasting memory of him is he was run from the court in one of the games against the Mavs because KP destroyed him.   He is also a guy who matches up against some of the bigger, physical centers but doesn't really punish smaller players.   He would also clog the lane and I don't believe he is a great rim runner.

Supposedly a great guy and he does bring toughness, but I am surprised to see his name pop up as a target.

Adams is a great screener. Probably the best in the league. Great rebounder (team rebounding impact on defense, individual numbers on offense). Not the best help defender or rim protector but one of the better post defenders in the league. Great option against bigs like Embiid or Sabonis.
He is not the perfect fit and would be a liability in some matchups. But he is the kind of big that gives a team reliable regular season minutes. Doing all the small things at an elite level (screens, boxouts, off rebounds). Resulting in good impact numbers (+/-, on/off)
In combination with a cheaper and more versatile small ball big like Theis/Boucher or even a healthy Kleber as his backup he could really help the Mavs.
