RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 05-19-2021 (05-19-2021, 10:39 AM)Mapka Wrote: What's the most the Hornets can offer? Ya I see 30 mil "practical cap space" - https://www.spotrac.com/nba/charlotte-hornets/cap/2021/ but that I think includes releasing cap holds on Monk and Graham which they may not want to do. Monk's is 16 mil which is pretty hefty. I do think with their glut of guards you might be able to steal one away if that's your aim. I imagine Charlotte would be okay with letting someone like Monk go (or maybe Rozier?) in order to free up enough space for a center. Okay but looking at https://www.spotrac.com/nba/rankings/cap-hit/center/ these rim-rollers are more in the Capela-mold so I stand by the 13-18 mil range. Anything higher than that for Holmes, Robinson, Allen would be nuts. We have seen interest in big men. If Collins is acquired, Maxi is probably the primary piece in that trade. Could they move him for something else? Like what if you could get Marcus Smart for Maxi? Smart has maybe worn out his welcome but Mavs really need a guy like that. Not another undersized big. They already have both Williams. With some creativity: Fournier (15m first year) + Smart + 2021 1st --> KP + Burke. Resign THJ (Lowest possible first year. Come to some kind of agreement. 1/11m followed by 2/40 next summer). Renounce the rest. Offer John Collins a 4/120 deal (starting at 28m) Nice pipe dream...not going to happen. Best to spend that money or trade for a rim protector. Think C's will trade Kemba instead of Smart/Fournier, that way maybe they add timelord to makeup for the value. Luka/Brunson Smart/Fournier DFS/Green Collins/Kleber X/Powell OR Walker/Brunson Luka/Hardaway DFS/Green Collins/Kleber Williams/Powell RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 05-20-2021 (05-19-2021, 07:41 PM)ItsGoTime Wrote: Look at Rubio's 3% year to year. It would be nice to have a player that knows how to get KP the ball. 1 yr of expiring Rubio isn't the worst idea imo. Mentor to Luka. Would have two great passers. I would picture Rubio's role just helping get Brunson and others their shots. I know people are concerned about his shooting but off the bench he would be really good. Right now we are reliant on Brunson scoring off the bench and handling the ball a lot. Some nights he's great, sometimes he over-dribbles and he doesn't really move the ball much. Rubio would really help the bench offense. Rotations would be something like: Luka/Rubio THJ/Brunson DFS/Green Powell/WCS (rMLE) KP/Maxi In this scenario you are just taking Rubio for cap space as a J Rich replacement. If Mavs were able to do a JR S&T to Minnesota or a third team to get closer to salary matching then Mavs would be able to stay over the cap and add another player for MLE. Fournier isn't doing so hot for Celtics so far. They definitely need to make some moves, its unclear what they will do. I am sure they'd like to get off of Kemba's money but then they still need to add talent. I have thought for a while now that they will do some kind of Horford/Kemba trade which helps with some money issues and also solves their need at big. Their team is sort of locked into mediocrity at the moment. "Right now, it's actually doing a little bit better. But at first it's like the bright lights were bothering my eyes and my vision was blurry and everything was just going too fast for me. "At times, I'm really struggling to focus and my eyes keep struggling to focus on one thing. My depth perception is really bad right now. But I saw a specialist, she gave me some exercises and hopefully it will get better." Started of really bad but has been a lot better in the last few weeks. 13/3/3 since the trade. Shooting 46% from three on nearly six attempts. 19/4/5 in may. Can never have enough shooting and I do think that the MBT really likes THJ. On and off the court. He was on Redicks podcast just a few days ago and talked about Atlanta, NY and Dallas. I think he is really happy in Dallas and would be suprised if he leaves. If that is the case, then we need F Gump to be wrong about JRich opting in. THJ $17mm R. Holmes $17mm Green replaces the role JRich played this season rMLE for 5th big (WCS or someone else) RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 05-20-2021 I know we have WCS penciled in as one of the bigs but I would be interested in investing rMLE in a guy like Avery Bradley who could help fill a role we need. I am not crazy with any of the ideas for this offseason yet, but if Holmes can play with KP than him plus Hardaway (or replacement) would probably be my thinking. Need to spend more time on this though. Although I agree if you signed Holmes, I would like to use the remainder for a non center. Bradley is an interesting name. I would probably prefer to go somewhere else because I think he could potentially be a progress stopper to Green. But I would need to think of someone who could be available at that range. |
