Rozier + Bridges? Rozier + scrubs? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - cow - 05-03-2021 Can't imagine Charlotte trades Bridges with his connection to Melo. That seems like quite a haul so maybe just Rozier/Bridges. Rozier to me has to be expendable considering the glut of guards they have. Bridges maybe since they have Hayward at SF. I like Rozier's playmaking/scoring fit next to Luka and I like Bridges being a two-way player. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StepBackJay - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 01:58 PM)cow Wrote: Can't imagine Charlotte trades Bridges with his connection to Melo. Ya if that's the case I am not that interested in a deal. I like Rozier but him alone isn't good enough. Mavs can find a SG through FA. For Mavs to trade KP they need at least 2 good, young, starting-cailber players that fit their plans. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - dynamicalVoid - 05-03-2021 Im not saying Bridges would take a pay cut to play with Melo...but I bet Bridges wouldnt want to play for any other PG in the league. Melo putting alley-oop dimes on a platter for that guy. Bridges always so pumped after those dimes too. I dont know who is considered a better player or who has more potential between PJ and Bridges? Is Bridges the clear cut most sensible guy to let go if Charlotte had to choose between Bridges and PJ? RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - dynamicalVoid - 05-03-2021 Just looked at this years stats...Bridges and Washington are damn near identical in everything. PJ career 38.6% from 3 Bridges career 35.5% from 3 Both shooting 40% this year. Dont know on how many attempts, though RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - cow - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 02:12 PM)dynamicalVoid Wrote: Im not saying Bridges would take a pay cut to play with Melo...but I bet Bridges wouldnt want to play for any other PG in the league. The KP/Charlotte trade + Holmes and resigning some guys is feasible though. I know you're right I was being greedy and trying to get Collins and still have some cap room left. If you nix that piece then you could bring back THJ at $12 mil and have about $16 mil to go get another player or two. May also change the algebra on what to do with the Room Exception because you'd still have Powell...though I'm still thinking you would target a rim protector like WCS or McGee. THJ may get the Wes Matthews treatment where they just tell him they have a piece of pie and he gets whatever is left over from that pie but it won't be less than "X" Bottom line I don't see a path to push the bench guys to the bench and fill out a solid starting group without a KP trade. The KP/Charlotte trade + Holmes and resigning some guys is feasible though. It´s very easily possible. I played through this whole exercise with Lavine already eating some bad contracts in return. Collins 28.8 Rozier 17.9 Holmes 15.0 Powell 11.1 Doncic 10.2 Kleber 8.8 Bridges 5.4 WCS 4.1 DFS 4.0 Burke 3.2 Green 3.0 Brunson 1.8 ========== $113.3M Doncic/Brunson/Burke Rozier/Green/Terry Bridges/DFS/Bonga Collins/Kleber/Powell Holmes/Hartenstein/WCS If Richardson doesn´t opt out it gets a little more complicated. Nevertheless it´s not that difficult to add a package of Lavine, Collins and Holmes from a cap perspective. Problem is only Holmes would be a straight forward signing. For everything else you need significant cooperation that is out of your control. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - MaxiThreeba - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 02:24 PM)cow Wrote: He's miss out on the fast break opportunities here but Luka's a pretty good passer too. I wouldn't be so sure he'd miss out on fast break opportunities. I know Luka doesn't really push the ball much but if he had DFS, Bridges and Holmes flying down the floor and an actual real life capable ball handler in Rozier with him I would be interested to see how that part of his game may evolve. I am making myself fall in love with the idea of a Rozier, Bridges, Holmes ++ offseason...which is a weird thing to fall in love with. But the idea of putting three quality 3pt Shooters in Rozier, Bridges and DFS along with a high quality roll man like Holmes is way more exciting to me than hoping Luka and KP figure each other out and KP stays healthy. That is a very switchable defense as well which means less drop coverage that they're forced to use with KP. A Brunson, THJ, Maxi, Powell ++ bench mob is something I can get behind too. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - MaxiThreeba - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 02:32 PM)Mavs2021 Wrote: It´s very easily possible. I think StepBack's point may have been that me suggesting Powell, Terry for Collins is pure fantasy...which I can't really argue with. The only potential there is if you get Collins to agree and you have the cap space....AND ATL doesn't want to match....then maybe they are open to getting at least something for him. Trading KP definitely positions you to be able to sign Holmes and still have a big stick to swing at any other FAs. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - dynamicalVoid - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 02:24 PM)cow Wrote: He'd miss out on the fast break opportunities here but Luka's a pretty good passer too. LUKA IS A BASKETBALL GOD OFFENSIVELY But I think the difference in lobs from Luka and Melo would be marginal... If I was Bridges and I could choose I would stay put. Already got a good thing going why mess with it Luka is the next big thing in basketball and probably gives you a better shot at winning championships than Melo...but if you are on a good squad, having fun and like your teammates...do you risk leaving for Championships? Luka is easily the better player and gives you a better shot at winning it all. Of course its about winning....I just dont think the Luka factor is enough to make Bridges leave what looks to be a good team with chemistry that he looks to be having fun on for Luka. He has Melo. Not quite as good as Luka...but factor everything in. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 05-03-2021 One thing that's not mentioned about the idea of trading for Rozier is that he also is a very good expiring contract to trade next year. If you traded for Rozier/Bridges/Pick you would then have 18M in expirings to pair with the CHA pick and I believe we'd be able to trade a first of our own again (but I believe it would still be the 2027 pick). You mean like Barea and Mejri, who were also friends with Luka? Letting 19 year olds (LaMelo) and 22 year olds manage your team is not really a smartest move, if you want to win. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace | FA starts Aug 2, 5 pm - MaxiThreeba - 05-03-2021 (05-03-2021, 03:07 PM)cow Wrote: He's years behind Luka from a basketball development standpoint but Melo is going to be special. He already is special and crazy fun to watch. He is a basketball savant in a lot of the ways Luka is as well. Just another one of the insanely bright young talents that the NBA will be able to build their brand on for the next two decades. A big difference in their game is one LaMelo will never be able to close the gap on though. LaMelo is 180 pounds...Luka is 230. What Luka can do in the post and in the mid range makes him the type of gravitational three level offensive talent that you don't see very often. In 5 years a lot of Luka and LaMelo's games may be equal...but Luka will always have that size and strength that LaMelo never will. |
