RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - Omega_Supreme - 04-18-2021 The Mavs decision making is a double blow because they miss out on the Superstars and the Future Superstars, i.e. Julius Randle type of players leaving us to always have to improve this team with scraps. Case in point, Randle, Christian Wood. The Mavs number 1 offseason priority needs to be dumping Porzingis. He needs to go and until he goes this team will forever be a bottom 8 team. You have to get consistent all star level play from a guy making 26 million. The Mavs are essentially competing as a team 26 million below the cap from a money to talent perspective they are OKC but with Luka when KP is often not playing. Not looking to argue about it but my point has little to do with KP and his talent but everything to do with availability and team chemistry. The Mavs are a young team and need guys that help strengthen the culture now more than anything. I do not see KP being good for our young team that still needs to grow and with him being in and out of the lineup impacts that growth. KP is better off on a veteran team as part of an already existing core, not the centerpiece of an existing core and despite Luka being our centerpiece, KP is that centerpiece now given his salary slot. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - mvossman - 04-18-2021 (04-17-2021, 07:36 PM)StepBackJay Wrote: Can we redo last offseason, draft Saddiq Bey, trade Jax/Wright + #31 for Danny Green, keep Seth and sign Jae Crowder to MLE? That would be a better team, but it would not address the teams biggest need of a secondary creator/playmaker to take pressure off Luka. Besides, considering Donnie's demonstrated interest in Green, I am guessing they would have tried something like that (or more) to get him and were rejected, and supposedly offered Crowder the MLE and he choose somewhere else. It does bother me that we were so close to have Bey and Bane and instead ended up with three projects in a Covid year, team and coach not conducive to projects. Mavs #31 I think was a better deal for DG I think. Also The Philly deal was mostly about unloading Horford so I bet that deal gets done with Johnson and maybe Philly gives up one less asset. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - Jason Terry - 04-18-2021 I think we might be screwed We’ve obviously missed opportunities in FA for a few years and time is up. Hindsight we should’ve been more perceptive(none of the top guys are coming here). We should’ve brought in guys that actually wanted and begged to be here (Randle and Thad Young etc) We really messed up in the draft as well. It’s amazing how poorly we can do after an all time great draft of Doncic-Brunson. Green is a non-shooting non-athlete which is totally unacceptable considering who was drafted after him. Terry is a typical on his way out of the league player. 31 should’ve been traded or use 36 and other assets to move up to take our guy if that was Bane. What a waste This team is weak. Mentally and physically weak. Both Luka and KP. There’s obviously chemistry issues somewhere(Rick and Donnie included). How was all this supposed to work? Neither Luka or KP can play defense. The REAL unicorns are the 3 guys needed to play with them. Feels like this was only going to work if we had Jrue, Middleton and Giannis to pair with them.......... The team knows it’s over. They stopped playing defense. We’re all just waiting for the summer so we can move forward. It’s been obvious for so long that KP wants out. Hard to have high team morale and defense when everyone knows(don’t care if it’s Luka or KP fault: looks bad on both of them) We will move on this summer. 5 out only makes sense if the 5(or a special 4) can do the duties needed of a 5 in addition to shooting 3’s. EVERY SINGLE 5 WE PLAY THIS YEAR LOOKS LIKE PRIME HAKEEM! Zero paint defense. KP 35th among C’s in D rating. 36th DRPM among C’s. When is the last time he set a legit screen? We just cannot win like this. We need a roll man who can set screens and rebound and play defense. KP only plays half the games and you need a Covington level 4 next to him. He plays scared like he’s only upping his value and avoiding injury. Luka has plenty of blame, but that’s a different topic. We obviously aren’t trading him. He needs major work. And there’s plenty of blame for Rick, Mark and Donnie and all the other players on this team. This is pathetic and it’s time to blow it up this summer. They really didn’t think through this whole “everybody stand at the 3pt line and nobody do the dirty work” model we employ RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - Omega_Supreme - 04-18-2021 (04-18-2021, 08:00 PM)Jason Terry Wrote: I think we might be screwed I would not go that far but I will say that this team is architected to fail. Soft Bigs, no iso scoring, streaky shooters, below average rebounding bigs. Part of me is alarmed because I don't thin the Mavs agree that those are streaking problems. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - SwisherPrice - 04-18-2021 Dragic will be their prized acquisition this summer after Miami doesn't pick up his option. Go ahead and get the jerseys made RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - cow - 04-18-2021 (04-18-2021, 09:22 PM)SwisherPrice Wrote: Dragic will be their prized acquisition this summer after Miami doesn't pick up his option. Go ahead and get the jerseys made I'm prepared. On the plus side, he can get in Luka's ear like no other teammate and will fit in just fine. On the downside, there isn't a future in that move and the team will have a 3rd straight year of similar talent levels. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - KillerLeft - 04-18-2021 (04-18-2021, 09:22 PM)SwisherPrice Wrote: Dragic will be their prized acquisition this summer after Miami doesn't pick up his option. Go ahead and get the jerseys made I'm not sure about that, but honestly, I think Dragic would help an awful lot of what's wrong with this team. Doesn't solve the charmin soft big rotation, but at least they'd get better shots down the stretch. RE: ROSTER TALK: DAL with $22.7M - $34.4M in capspace this summer - dirkfansince1998 - 04-18-2021 Last and only all defense team for a Mavs player in the Cuban era. Tyson Chandler in 2011. I just want a legit big that can protect the rim and defend in space. Don´t care about the offense.
