RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Tyler - 03-24-2021 Maybe it's just an example of negotiating through the media, but Townsend is really talking down the chance of a trade happening. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/mavericks/2021/03/25/on-the-eve-of-the-nba-trade-deadline-mavericks-prioritizing-continuity-more-than-an-over-the-top-move/ Quote:As of Wednesday evening, a league source said Dallas appeared to be out of the running for Orlando forward Aaron Gordon, with lead suitors Boston and Denver both prepared to lay a first-round pick and other assets on the table. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Jason Terry - 03-24-2021 Top NINE rotation players? We know who the 7 are but I’d hardly call WCS/DP/Burke untouchable. Interesting RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - dirkfansince1998 - 03-24-2021 So we aren´t getting Fournier because Donnie wants to keep Powell/WCS/Burke? RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Mavs2021 - 03-24-2021 (03-24-2021, 08:54 PM)dirkfansince1998 Wrote: So we aren´t getting Fournier because Donnie wants to keep Powell/WCS/Burke? Nah. Though I think you still have to consider the long-term decisions that Fournier triggers. Do you retain Fournier, THJ and Richardson at a +$50M? How different is the skillset between Fournier and THJ really? We can easily upgrade this roster with other small cost moves. Players like Drummond or Parker would seriously improve our rotation. Top 9 rotation: Luka, Porzingis, THJ, Richardson, Kleber, DFS, Brunson, Drummond, Parker. I wouldn´t be shocked, if they lost in the 1st round. I would not be totally shocked either, if it all came together perfectly and they won the title. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - jesusshuttlesworth82 - 03-24-2021 Fournier would be the second best playmaker on the Mavs immediately. I’m assuming Orlando has better offers than two shitty 2nd rd picks. As boring as it is, I think that is a correct approach. Spending a bunch of assets for a marginal improvement is not the way to go, imho. Unfortunately there are far more buyers and the prices are so high Mavs can't add a starter level talent using Johnson and picks. This team is actually starting to look well as it is. Better to save assets for a real move. Still, they should do Johnson for Bledsoe and pick trade. That one is just a no brainer to me. Better to save assets for a real move.Absolutely. It´s not like the team situations for Beal or Lavine have really improved and both are still UFA in 2022. If we can pick up 1-2 first round picks now, along with our own 2025 and 2027 picks, I think we can get a deal done in the summer (or the next TDL). If Lavine says I want to go to the Mavs in the summer of 2022, how can the Bulls turn down 2-4 FRPs. That would be insane. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - omahen - 03-24-2021 I think it would be smart to get a contract which could be used in Collins SnT in the summer. I wouldn't want to say goodbye to any of THJ and Richardson to create cap space for Collins. Better to save assets for a real move. Yep. That should be their default. Preferably they could pry Fournier away for JJ a second and one of the rooks. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Mavs2021 - 03-24-2021 (03-24-2021, 09:50 PM)omahen Wrote: I think it would be smart to get a contract which could be used in Collins SnT in the summer. I wouldn't want to say goodbye to any of THJ and Richardson to create cap space for Collins. If the Hawks decide to let Collins walk, they have $20M in capspace and easy ways to generate more. I don´t think they want any bad salary like Bledsoe back in such a case. You´d have to acquire somebody like Cory Joseph from the Kings, who has a low guarantee this summer. I´d look at Bledsoe as a salary-deal maker for the 2022 targets. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - cjeter24 - 03-24-2021 I'm skeptical of the Bledsoe and a 1st rumors just because I think the MBT is simply not dumb enough to ignore that gift. Assuming they could get the Pelicans to agree to make it 2023. I'd suspect in a dream scenario this summer (getting a big name FA), the Mavs probably try to operate as an over the cap team and make moves via SNT with the ability to do it without the SNT. A double SNT including THJ and Collins? It'd make so much dang sense to all parties even if unlikely. But we are operating a dream scenario. Mavs didn't seem overly concerned about cap space with the small contracts they handed out last summer so the play seems to be for 2022 cap space. Bledsoe puts next to nothing on your cap the last year with his non guaranteed deal. So he doesn't effect your cap space. But your offer of 2022, 2024, and 2026 picks + Brunson + resigned Richardson or THJ+ Green and whoever the hell else of value you want to add is looking like a DANG good package for someone. How many teams looking to trade for a star can compete with that? It's a short list. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - F Gump - 03-24-2021 Bledsoe is no prize. He's an over-30 who has started to decline, on a contract that is already bad and will probably look worse and worse as you go along. Adding him is definitely NOT the answer to how to make the Mavs better or to increase their assets. MIL was lucky to get out from under his deal, now NO is stuck with him, and you don't wanna take their place. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Aussiebballer - 03-24-2021 How about Willie and Burke for Dinwiddie? If Nets have no interest in keeping Dinwiddie long term they get a couple of backups for their deep run this year. Mavs get Dinwiddie into the club to evaluate his health and attitude. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - F Gump - 03-24-2021 It will be interesting to see what players like Fournier and Dinwiddie yield, if they are traded. Gordon too. I'm thinking the prices will prove to be much higher than we think (if they are traded) and that the supposed giveaways that are being wished for don't even exist. For those reasons, I think the Mavs are not going to find anything that makes sense, and will sit this one out. Not for lack of trying, but for an unwillingness to pay something stupid on a deal that doesn't get them anywhere.. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - Branduil - 03-24-2021 I do think it seems unlikely the Mavs will make any major trades by tomorrow. In terms of the rotation, the clearest need for an upgrade would be starting SF, so we'll see if the Mavs can get anything with some combo of Johnson, DFS, and/or a young guy/2nd rounder. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25, 2pm TDL - cow - 03-24-2021 (03-24-2021, 10:21 PM)F Gump Wrote: Bledsoe is no prize. I'd take Bledsoe as the price to get Lonzo as he really only has a year of bad contract left. I doubt that is seriously on the table but I'd rather have Lonzo long term than JRich. |
