RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL?) + Salary Chart - HanspardsShowerVoice - 12-17-2020 I wouldn't get my hopes up that the Bulls are going to trade off LaVine in a firesale. I think they're going to compete for a playoff spot in the East this year, and LaVine is going to be rightfully seen as a star. They've vastly under performed to their talent level under Jim Boylen and Patrick Williams looks really good. Boylen really might have been the worst HC in the NBA. He rode Pops coattails to a HC job like so many former Patriot assistant coaches rode Bill Belichick's coattails. THJ's expiring contract would be a minimum (I don't want THJ here, his value is far too reliant on 3pt shooting and his trade value as an expiring contract after a career shooting year is the highest it will ever be). I would expect that, plus one of Maxi/DFS, one of our rookies and a future pick or two. Maybe we could get him a bit cheaper if the Magic feel like Isaac is the answer and not Gordon longer term. I'd still do it though because I love his upside and profile on this team as the 4. I'm 100% out on Gordon if that's what he would really cost. That would make us a worse team imo. That's a haul I would do for Lavine, but not for AG. Lavine would replace THJ's shooting and he's a better scorer. He's also as athletic as AG. As much as I love what Kleber brings, he's still very much ideally a bench/rotation guy on a championship level team. Not sure what the argument is purely from a roster upgrade perspective as opposed to emotional attachment to the player. Kleber is 6'10", can rebound, guard the post and the 3-point line, and hit his open shots. Plus, he's a hard worker and part of the Mavs culture. Also, the whole Wurzburg connection with Dirk storyline. If he was just-a-guy, I'd say, throw him into just any ol' trade. But he's not. Kleber can be a valuable piece to a Mavs championship. With KP and DP starting, Maxi was the bench 5 as Boban is disadvantaged in an up tempo game or against a heavy perimeter team. That said, I'm very curious if the WCS improvement is real or just an early (pre) season blip. If his performance is sustainable, then the big rotation might change, but I don't know how. I'll leave that to wiser heads than mine. There are a lot of new dynamics with DAL this season and I'm looking forward to how everything plays out. Luka+JRich could be the new Steph+Klay. WCS new commitment to improving his game. THJ role moving forward (moving down the options ranking?). How well do a couple of the rookies develop (including Hinton). How long to get KP back to his late season form. Is this Luka's new playing weight. So much to watch. A hell of a lot more fun to go into the season expecting to win instead of just hoping the team doesn't embarrass itself too badly. Based on what? He's played for one of the best coaches in the league IMO and actually gotten worse. Maybe playing with Luka is the magical cure like it was for THJ but I dont get the Gordon love. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL?) + Salary Chart - michaeltex - 12-17-2020 Just read an article on Hoops Habit, by Dalton Sell (?), who proposes Oladipo, Jrue Holiday and Kawhi Leonard as targets for the Mavs now that GA has signed his extension. Who are these guys and do they even have a clue what they are talking about? He thinks they are individually gettable in FA next offseason due to DAL having some cap space, but appears to have no understanding about fit and function. Just griping... Dipo would be the only guy out of that list that is actually gettable that the Mavs have been linked to before. Dipo and Pacers do not seem like a long-term fit, to me its likely he's traded by the TDL so unless its to the Mavs then he probably also is going to go to a team that will want to resign him. Which one of those won't fit here? Jrue and prime Oladipo are perfect fit as upgrade on JRich. Kawhi is one player that is perfect fit for all 30 teams. Though, I agree it is probably a random article, I expect Jrue to sign extension during the season, Oladoipo ending up not regaining his level and turns into MLE type of guy. Kawhi will renew after having that 10th season, though if they end up with an absolute disaster of a year he might get out. But that is a long shot. You are so wrong about this. Half the league has cap space next summer. Someone will overpay for sure. Hayward was good last season in a deep Celtics team. I think another bad year for Oladipo and he gets the Cousins treatment and find no one willing to pay him. He shows some of his old game back, like Hayward did then he could land the max RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL?) + Salary Chart - Aussiebballer - 12-17-2020 That is what will be interesting for the Pacers. Because Oladipo knows he has to have a great year, it will be interesting to see how he plays in terms of the team play or will he be all about his own stats. We don't know that there haven't been trade talks, I bet there have been discussions but it's not in the Pacers interest to sell low on Oladipo. Let him play well for half a season to prove he's healthy and productive then you will see buyers. Teams were hesitant due to severity of his injury. I think it is all up to how he look this year,if he shows some great form, Pacers trade him to a team that think they can keep him and he gets paid. He looks crap, he will be next IT/Cousins RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - ItsGoTime - 12-17-2020 If he looks close to his allstar form and KP showed out would you do VO/Turner and 2021 pick for KP? This board has gone completely nuts on Oladipo like he's a spare or something.I don't think anyone views him as a spare. What he is, until proven otherwise, is damaged goods. His type of injury is not an easy one to return from. This season will be his litmus test. I am a fan of his fit here but, realistically, we need to be careful in investing any more dollars in a player with an injury profile. I'm fine with one of them and we have that in KP but KP has a ceiling that is infinitely higher, making the risk much more tolerable. Oladipo has had one, dominant season and that was pre-injury. For Dallas, it has to be wait and see. * as to this market as a FA, people do struggle with the associating what a market will bear with their evaluation of a player. If Oladipo has a good season and is mostly free of injury, he's going to get paid. (12-17-2020, 07:23 PM)aguiar95 Wrote: https://twitter.com/ScoopB/status/1339721553144115201Glad you put this up. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - StepBackJay - 12-17-2020 Is there a way to get an opted-in Griffin for Powell and keep J Rich? Not sure if Mavs can create enough cap space to take Griffin's salary - Powell if they don't resign THJ? The lineup would be like Luka, Rich, DFS, Griffin, KP. You could do THJ + Johnson at the TDL for Griffin in a cap-clearing type of move for the Pistons. |
